Finally got some things done yesterday. I did two loads of laundry while I went through all the paperwork, magazines, junk mail, etc. that was scattered all around our living and dining room. I recycled most of it and put the rest in my office(/extra bedroom/storage room/wedding central) to be filed later. I began the process of cleaning out the kitchen cabinets, but I just started with a few things. Tonight before I take out the garbage, I’ll do a little bit more. Then I went to run errands and return a bunch of stuff. I even managed to get the battery in my watch changed, something I have been meaning to do for months!
Before I left yesterday I had loaded all of our plastic grocery bags into my car to recycle. We can’t recycle them at home, and none of the grocery stores near our house have the bins. We try to use our reusable bags now, but sometimes we don’t have them with us, and besides, these have been accumulating forever. I was able to take half of them to one store yesterday, but there wasn’t room for the rest since they only had one bin that was already mostly full. Still it felt really good to get that much done. It’s such a stupid thing, but it’s just one more pile of stuff cluttering up our already full house.
This morning I was getting ready for work and went into the kitchen to get something for breakfast, but nothing appealed to me. I decided I would leave a few minutes early so I could stop at the grocery store and get something. Bonus: I could drop off the rest of the bags! So I’ve had a great start to the day. First of all, people must already be going on vacation, because there was NO traffic. I drive a long way to work, but this morning it just flew by, helped even more by the David Sedaris book on tape I was listening to. When I got to my exit, I stopped at the grocery store. First I filled up on gas ($1.62!), then I dropped off the bags, and then I grabbed some fruit and a small breakfast burrito before heading into work. Such little things, but I am in such a good mood this morning because of them! =)
Today is my only real day of work this week, because we are having our fun day tomorrow. Tomorrow night I am driving up to a mall near my dad’s to meet my step-mom and little sister to pick out her flower girl dress. It should be fun if traffic isn’t too bad. Then, I’m on vacation! I seriously need this break and I just can’t wait! Once we get back from Thanksgiving break, it is just a few short weeks until Christmas Break….and the wedding!
I know exacxtly what you mean. It’s not like winning the lottery or anything but when little things like that start to fall in place it really does make the day better.
