While I could probably update more than once every two months, I have to say that the last couple of months have been extraordinarily busy, so I’m not surprised it’s been so long.  On Monday, we will be just two short months from our wedding, and we have been working hard taking care of all those details that so easily slip my mind! =)

Today I had my bridal shower.  Four ladies from my church (Lurline, Geri, Laura and Dianne) all threw it for me at Lurline’s house.  Everything was so lovely, and we had some delicious food!  It was quintessentially southern…little tiny sandwiches (pimento cheese, chicken salad, and cucumber), homemade cheese straws, cherry tomatoes stuffed with boursin cheese, a yummy layered dip, tiny meatballs, fruit…an on and on and on!  My mom and my Grandma are planning to make my wedding cake, so they made one giant layer as a test run–it was delicious and looked really pretty.  I was very impressed.  I was also a little surprised at how many people came for the shower–it really was so nice.  It was really great to celebrate with so many friends (mostly from my church) who have all known me so long and played such important roles in my life.  I also got so many lovely gifts–it’s slightly overwhelming!  Everyone was really very generous.  I’m most excited over the little things…a new teapot, a sugar and creamer set, a bright red tin recipe box–but I also got some of the bigger things off of our registry…a very nice toaster oven, a beautiful king sized (alternative) down comforter, and a kitchenaid mixer! (From my Grandma so I can make her world-famous gingersnaps.)  =)  The women who hosted my shower all chipped in and got me gift certificates to get a mani/pedi and my hair done for the wedding!  I’m so blessed to have such dear friends who care so much for me!

It is really beginning to feel real now.  Tomorrow afternoon we are meeting our photographer to take our engagement pictures, and Wednesday I am meeting with the woman who is going to alter my dress for my first fitting.  Friday, I think I am going to meet my step-mom and my little sister (she’s five) to go pick out her flower girl dress. Invites will go out in about two weeks.  I still have to order my veil and find wraps for my bridesmaids, but everything is coming together.  Last night one of my friends started talking to me about plans for my bachelorette party!  That is exciting.  I was glad to hear that she really does know me well…she has been talking to the other bridesmaids and they are planning something very low-key…just a good time with the girls.  I can’t wait for all the festivities!  And, I can’t wait to finally be married to Ryan…it’s just one more step in our lives together!

RYN: That sounds really nice :). Thats what I was telling Jack that we should see if we can just go up to my sister’s fiance (he will be our brother in law by then) summer house that we always go up to. That way we will at least have something to do. We’ll see How exciting for you that yours is just a few months away! Thats great for you guys. Did you guys find it hard to register for stuff when you were already living together?

RYN: Thatsa good idea about the Bed Bath and Beyond thing. We are thinkign about registering (granted this is about a year off) for some new cookware, maybe new dishes, sheets are a great idea, all his stuff is so manly haha. Then I read this great idea on theknot.com where people register at hotels or resorts and have people put money towards thier honey moon so thats an option for us, orhave people get us best buy gift cards to put towards the TV we want but will be too expensive for anyone to get.
