[622.5] Pre-blogathon post

Sponsor Me!

Ok. So I’m doing the blogathon, and those entries have to be public. So I figured I’ll start writing a few public entries here and there.

What is a blogathon, you ask? The blogathon takes place on July 29th. It is where participants stay up and write an entry every 30 minutes for 24 hours in order to raise money for charity.

The charity I’m raising money for is the Institution of 21st Century Relationships. Here is their mission statement from their website: Attaining a satisfactory level of love and companionship through intimate relations is an unalterable, fundamental need of all human beings. The Institute for 21st Century Relationships exists to facilitate the fulfillment of the human potential for relating, and to support the freedom of consenting adults to discover and to practice the intimate relationship structure that best meets their emotional and human needs. We champion the basic human right to do so free of governmental, societal or institutional coercion or favoritism.

We seek, through education, research, and support, to create a climate in which all forms of ethical, consensual and fulfilling relationship styles are broadly understood and are equally respected and honored as legitimate choices.

This includes those who are homosexual, polyamorous, who practice religious polygamy, and basically any way that adults choose to find love in another person (or persons). Being that I am both bisexual and poly, this charity is closest to my heart.

Moving on.

I guess I should introduce myself. The basic info is all on my front page. I have 3 cats, 2 children (okay, so one of them is my husband), a house, a WAHM cloth diaper business, and an oppinionated soul.

I am an attachment parent and also quite anti-doctor. I plan on having my next child unassisted, as this one was supposed to be (but I ended up in the hospital due to preeclampsia).

I am overweight, as is most of America. I am also struggling to change that – again, as is most of the world. Will it ever happen? Maybe. Maybe not. But you know what? My son and my husband love my regardless of what I look like, and that is the most important thing in the world.

I am a music freak. About once a month, my husband and I attend a drum circle two hours away. My son adores it. I listen to pretty much everything in the world – Enya to Eminem to ICP & Twiztid, to classical and country. We attend a local bluegrass festival twice a year where my In-laws are always playing. (They are absolutely wonderful musicians and I get chills listening to them sing together). I was the only goth at my high school allowed to park in "redneck row" because I’d show up at school blasting Hank Williams Jr.

I am young, and I am a mother, entirely by choice. My whole life I have wanted to have my first child before I turned 21. Xander was born April 5th, and I will be 21 August 27th. So I got to fullfill that dream. My husband and I are going to celebrate our 4 year anniversary on November 16th. We got married because we loved each other, and then wait until we owned our own home and my husband made enough so that I could stay home before we tried for a baby. I want another one now. He’s making me wait until Xander is 2. Boo on him. lol

I think that’s pretty much everything. I’m going to be posting a few public entries (even though I am a favorites only diary) in the week or so leading up to the blogathon so that I can get some more readers (and hopefully sponsors). Got a question? Ask away!
