the truth is, i’m not real thrilled about having a girl. i say that with an addendum.. i’ll get over it. i wanted a girl so badly when we had jace, and i was sad at that point too, but i obviously love having a boy..

i guess i’m just nervous about all the stuff that comes with girls. moodiness.

drama.

puberty (really, how much easier is that with boys?!)

makeup (i don’t do makeup, never have, don’t know how)

frilly things (don’t wear them myself)

dollies (i’d rather play trucks with my son!)

how about this one.. jace has a poopy diaper, you just go to town cleaning it up. a girl.. well, that’s different!

but as i said, i’ll get over it. i do love this baby, i’m just not used to the idea. it will be nice to not be outnumbered completely for once (5 living beings in this house, i’m the only girl)

i went through jace’s newborn stuff and picked out things i thought wouldn’t be TOO boyish on this one.. yes, i know it’s early. but there are plenty of options for at least the first few months. we can start to accumulate things in the meantime. is it weird if i’ll have a hard time seeing those things on a girl, though? because i’ve seen them on my son? we’re talking greens and yellows here, people. i’m weird.

tomorrow i’m going to try a day of potty training with jace. he’s recently shown interest in his buzz lightyear underwear and his little potty, so i thought i’d give it a shot.

naah it’s not weird. I’d feel the same way seeing Ryan’s clothes on his younger sibling. I feel the EXACT same way about having a girl but remember, she will be who you raise her to be. She doesn’t need to be a frilly moody snotty princess if you don’t raise her that way 🙂 A lot of people said to me, when I got pregnant with Ryan… hey, if it’s a girl, you’d better learn to shoot a gun! I saidnaah, I’ll teach her to shoot it herself 🙂

You have plenty of time to get used to the idea of having a girl. I’m not all girly and into makeup and all, but my sister and her daughters are corrupting Sakura. They have painted her nails a few times already and my mom wants to buy her a purse to put makeup in (I’m really hoping she means play makeup and not the real stuff).

She doesn’t have to be totally girly. I really want my kids to look like little yellow duckies, no matter their gender. lol. But who knows, maybe once you start shopping for girl clothes, you’ll end up loving a frill here or there. I also never wear makeup. Never cared to! So, I think you’ll be fine. 🙂

I felt that way too (although I do love pink & frills on baby girls!) and now that my daughter is here….it’s pretty awesome. I have no doubt that you’ll adjust! 🙂 And there’s nothing wrong with a makeup-less girl who gets rough & tumble with her big brother!
