I meant to post the last couple of days but got caught up into life. I was considering the title, “sensations” but it made most sense to use my favorite word, Orange.
I am thankful that I can see these bright little juicy orbs. Moreover, when I see them in the market, they are typically sandwiched between other vividly colored fruits and vegetables, glowing perfectly and shiny on display. I can see their shape, all round but each different, each their own against all the other displayed produce.
I’m thankful that I can smell oranges. There’s a softer sweetness to the scent of orange to the sharp tartness of lemons. And I have the blessing of being able to distinguish the two.
Orange juice has a special place in my heart. I’ve always been one drawn toward sour rather than bitter and savory over sweet. I remember many mornings in high school consuming orange juice, chocolate chip cookies, and little bread loafs with nacho cheese sauce, as one does when they’re 17.
I like the weight of oranges rolling in my hands. They always look like a hollow ball to play with to me, but they end up feeling heavy with their juice.
I love that oranges encompass so many sensations, perhaps being one of the most human fruits of all. And it’s not so much that oranges are my favorite fruit. I am thankful they remind me that my body and experiences are amazingly rich. I can engage all of my senses with this one little fruit.
