Distinction, Shame, Rage and a Conclusion

I cant remember if I wrote on here about a big presentation I did a few weeks ago, it was on Genetic Treatments in Cystic Fibrosis. It was a group seminar with two other people. I got my mark back  yesterday – D5! Thats 95-100%! HURRAH! <boast> I am clearly a genius </boast> 🙂

Otherwise, despite me being extremely happy about that, I am overdrawn on my overdraft AGAIN. Despite me not spending a single penny, and my Dad bailing me out with £125, the bank has found an excuse to charge me more money and eat up all of my money. I just dont understand it – I havent been to an ATM, or switched anything for three weeks. I think it will be charges for the last time I was overdrawn, but that was two weeks ago. I just hate this. I’ve had two jobs this month. I finished the phone fundraising, but I got a job with the local supermarket on the checkouts. I dont know what else I can do, I cant physically work any more hours without jepordising my grades, and it would be rubbish for me to plummet from the heady heights of a D5 and a D4 recently.

I think I have made a decision about where I’m living though. I have spoken to my Dad about moving back to the flat they own elsewhere in the city. Lots of things have contributed to my decision. We got the gas and electricity bill for the last three months, and it was huge. We all pay ~£20 a month each as a pre-payment so hopefully after each quarter, it will already have £180 paid. For the most recent bill we had to pay an extra £70 each on top of the previous payments to cover the bill. Thats huge for a not-very-big-student-flat. I used to get bills for £60-70 a quarter when I lived in my old flat. And it was only single glazed. <sarcasm> And its not to do with my flatmates getting up three hours after the hot water has been on and demanding a hot shower (and heating the whole tank to do so) or people leaving computers on all day even when they’re out at uni all day, or leaving fan heaters on in their rooms for hours, despite it being cheaper to just burn ten pound notes. Its all my fault apparently. </sarcasm> I havent worked out how yet. I get up when the hot water is switched on even if I dont want to because I know it costs a lot of money to heat the tank. I wait until I have a full load of washing for the machine rather than washing a single towel and tumble drying it. I also dont tumble dry, I work out in advance when Im going to need clothes and wash them with enough time afterwards for them to dry on an airing rack.

Also, no one cleans the flat ever. I didnt empty the bathroom bin as an experiment recently, and it got to the stage where there were flies in the bathroom from the bin. People propped it open with empty shampoo bottles, used cotton buds, tissues etc.

Its a shame because I enjoy living with JDG, but SAM really pisses me of – ive never met someone who get my blood boiling with rage so much. I have decided that on the 7 August I will give my landlord two months notice and move back to my the flat my Mum and Dad own. It will be cheaper, cleaner, and I wont have to live with a crappy angry stroppy bitch…sorry I mean flatmate.

I can so sympathise with the whole bin thing. Both my housemates are useless and lazy and it get really annoying after a while when your the only one who does things like empty bins or clean the bathroom.

It sure as hell wasn’t very nice on its own! Neither was the Smirnoff… but I’ll get used to the tastes. Plus, I only really drink vodka with lemonade, which works well with fruit-flavoured ones. So, what you aiming to do with this degree (without wanting to suggest that degrees must have a point – mine certainly doesn’t!). x
