Some things are worth recording

Funny:
I was driving home yesterday on I-480, a main thoroughfare through Cleveland. Traffic was deadlocked on the Valley View Bridge (ie – the scariest bridge ever). In front of me was a white beater. We were all stopped on this bridge when all of a sudden, I see something fall from the passenger side window. It appears to be a hamburger or something from McDonald’s or somewhere. A second later, the passenger side door opens and the person climbs out (on a major highway!!!) and picks the burger up. I stare in disbelief. Then, to even more of my amazement and awe, the person proceeds to take a bite out of aforementioned fallen sandwich! She got out of her car, in the middle of a busy highway on a huge scary bridge just to get her fallen sandwich. The worst part? The sandwich was NOT in a wrapper!!

Funniest thing in quite a long time:
Last Thursday, I-480 was a wall of traffic on my way home. Due to the traffic jam, I jumped off of the highway and took some side streets. Now, mind you, I knew I’d be passing by some sketchy (to say the least) neighborhoods and would probably see some funny sites, but nothing prepared me for this.

I neared the light at the intersection of Miles and some other road that I can’t remember now and there was a guy walking in the middle of the intersection with something in his hand. He wasn’t walking aimlessly or anything, he was approaching each car, asking them something and then either pausing a moment or approaching the next vehicle. As I continued to stare, it all finally came into focus. This, gentleman, I suppose I’ll say, was walking from car to car with a bucket. As he got closer I saw what he was holding in his hand and what was in his bucket – fried chicken. He was selling fried chicken out of a mop bucket in the middle of an intersection. Quite possibly the funniest part of this story? He was wearing a tuxedo. A TUXEDO! Selling fried chicken out of a mop bucket in the middle of a busy intersection. He didn’t bother offering me any chicken – I’m pretty sure the look on my face said all that needed to be said.

I swear, if I hadn’t seen either of these two events with my own eyes I wouldn’t believe they actually happened!!

Honestly it never stops to amaze me how nuts some people can be. I wish you’d had a camera- those pictures would be worth some money.
