Life
You know, things are well. I’m happy to be married, even more than that I’m happy that the stress and pressure of the wedding is over. We now of course have the new issue of an upcoming move in March, but that is actually good. We will be much closer to Emmett’s employer & I will hopefully get to leave my current employer – which I have been wanting to do for awhile now.
Anyway, every time I come here to write OD gives me issues so I will just voice my complaints now. I know I sound like a whiny brat, but seriously I feel like since the wedding the only things people want to say to me are “how’s married life” and “now it’s time for a baby!” Guess what. Life is the same mostly. We have been together for 8 years and lived together before the wedding. I think the baby question bothers me more. I am just not one of those people that thinks you have to have children to live a full & rich life. Life does not exist solely to repopulate, and while we think we will probably have at least one child, that doesn’t mean that has to be our singular focus right now. Seriously people. Just ask me how I am or how Emmett & I are once in awhile, then I may afford you more patience when you get on me about a baby. I am way currently more concerned about the 5 pounds I’ve gained back than I am about getting pregnant. Time to get back on the healthy eating/religious workout track STAT.
I sound pissy. I’m really not. Just more an observation.
On a side note, it’s fecking freezing here in the Austin area today. It’s 27 out there but feels like 17 with the wind chill. It’s ridiculous! It’s also ridiculous that this wouldn’t even be something I whined about while I lived in Cleveland. I guess I am just a thin blooded sissy after being away from that mess for 3 years! In fact, I’ve been so spoiled by the weather here that I no longer own a winter coat or proper gloves & scarves. I guess I better get on there. This is already the second freeze spell we’ve had this winter & it wouldn’t hurt to be more prepared.
I hope everyone is well – I always mean to write more here but when I do I either forget or OD doesn’t allow it. I’m not sure about Prosebox yet – I did sign up under the same name but I haven’t even logged an entry yet.
I know exactly what you mean, thankfully after 6 years of marriage people are laying off the kid thing. It irks me to no end!!

Yeah, the baby question is infuriating. Brad and I waited several years obviously, and now people are super smug about us having a baby. “Oh, I knew you would come around.” I mean, whaaaaaaaaaaat? I have said a million times that I could have NOT had children and been fine with it. And I meant that! Ugh. People are so weird.

I’ve come to find it to be a very personal and inappropriate question. Maybe I’m a little bitter, but that question is evil!

Ryn: THANK YOU! You are a complexion-saving god. The topic of babies is one best not brought up to a couple — they will bring it up if they want to tell you their procreation plans, and if not, leave them be! Somehow a wedding makes people feel they have permission to talk about baby-having. Not cool!
