he cried, the bride was cold as ice

Finally to the wedding day!
I had the bridesmaids meet up with me between 10-11 & we all headed out to get manis & pedis. All the bridesmaids except Kacey that is, who had already gotten her nails done & needed emergency last minute dress alterations.
We headed back to the beach house afterwards to get ready. We all did our own hair & makeup so it took awhile but was fun. We ran short on time & all the girls hurried into their dresses, & I grabbed mine in its bag & waited for Emmett to get out of the way so he wouldn’t see me. Finally, we headed to the venue, about 15 minutes minutes late. We got there, met up with the photographers, saw the inside of the venue (which Kelyn had so kindly decorated for us) & almost lost it at the memorial table. Immediately, I hurried into the room to get my dress laced up & so the photographer could get some before shots.
We were supposed to have our ceremony on the beach, but it was still basically flooded, so we had our ceremony right at the venue. I would love to tell you everything was perfect & exactly as planned, but of course that would be a lie. But it was a great day, spent with great friends & as one of my friends told me later – it was like going to a party & a wedding broke out. Which is exactly how we wanted it. Galveston is a beautiful place with a laid back beachy vibe, which is how the wedding turned out. I will tell the rest of the story in photos.

My favorite getting ready shot – with my favorite Yves Saint Laurent lipstick. I did my hair & makeup myself & oh how I loved my jewelry!

The finishing touches

I spent at least 10 minutes holding my boobs in place while my dress was being corseted up – so my sister/maid of honor joined in on the inappropriateness!

The sand ceremony – I made the box

Brenda did the reading from the Wedding Singer

Emmett’s sister Mary Clare & nephew Connor were our musicians

Mom cried, which made Emmett cry, which made my sister cry, then Kacey cried, which made Laura cry. I’m like my dad. Just not a crier!

You may now kiss the bride!

Pronounced & we’re out!
