NYE Party
Current Mood: Sleepy
Current Song: Nice & Easy
The New Years Eve party was incredible.
Doors didn’t open until 8pm. When I arrived, big wigs, corporates, wannabe’s, patrons, customers, clients, and everyone you can think of were waiting in line waiting for security to let them to the pool area. Being the performer, I was allowed to go in early. I went in to scope out the setup and make a game plan. As soon as 8pm came around, the flood gates opened and a sea of black suits, shimmering dresses, plastic faces, and fake smiles poured in.
A mild doubt came through me but quickly left.
I started performing little tricks here and there letting everyone know who I was.
I went to one gazebo (which were rented out for $5000 each) and performed for a nice lady named Susan and her family. Before I knew it, I was being treated as if I were part of the family. Susan tipped me $100 at the start, another $100 after a 20 minute set, another $100 after I came back from a walkthrough, and she gave me another $100 to go gamble after the party.
We exchanged numbers as she hired me to perform at her daughter’s wedding in November. Her daughter was there and told her mum that she wanted “Deryn Legend” to perform at her wedding.. She said, “You are AMAZING! I want you to be at my wedding, even if it were as a guest!” I was introduced to her future husband and after he rubbed the drunkness out of his eyes, he says, “OH MY GOD, Deryn Legend!!! It’s awesome to meet you! You’re AMAZING!!!”
All in all, the party was for me to stroll around and show everyone I could some magic. Susan insisted on my presence and she paid me to stay.. paid very well actually.
My name is out, my craft is recognized, it’s time for me to get noticed…
2008… the year of the legend.
