We almost always almost win
I finally gave in and went to the doctor yesterday to get antibiotics and a steriod. I don’t know how I still have a throat with all the coughing I do. I woke up this morning with my right ear clogged up so that’s very annoying.
I wanted to watch my niece wrestle tomorrow but my sister told me whoever is running the tournament thought it a smart idea to group boys and girls in one gym with only 3 mats. So parents and wrestlers will more than likely be there from morning to night in the hot, loud, and sweaty gym. I’m not well enough for that mess. Girls wrestling has exploded in the last couple of years in our area but some people apparently haven’t caught up with the times. Plus most of the refs the girls are given have never reffed wrestling before so mistakes get made. For example, my niece kept getting head-butted by her opponent and the ref never called it. She had another girl pinned but the ref was in the wrong position and didn’t see it, so the other girl ended up winning the match. Things like that are really frustrating but at this time we have to make due.
The Husker Volleyball girls losing to Penn State was also frustrating. They literally had it but just as we Huskers are good for, we choke when it counts the most. Not that those girls shouldn’t be damn proud of themselves for another great season, it just doesn’t make sense when the talent is clearly there yet we can never pull it off. We Almost Always Almost win. Go Big Red.
Christmas shopping is basically finished. I think I may need to pick up a couple gift cards for those people you never know what to get them. I did have to order something off Amazon today and pray it gets here Christmas Eve. Since my dad passed away every major holiday just feels a bit off. Holidays don’t feel the same way anymore. And what’s funny is my dad hated holidays. I think he may have liked The 4th of July but I know he never cared for Christmas. He mainly didn’t like the mess Christmas made. It stressed him out. He was the one with the trash bag ready and picked up the wrapping paper as soon as you tore it off. My mom also likes to play minute-to-win-it Christmas games and he would grumble about that too but he would still play. I miss those things about him that we no longer have. My bro in law has taken over the wrapping paper mess role, but obviously not the same. Its weird the things you would take for granted about people can become one of the many things you find yourself missing about them when they’re gone.
I’ve spent way too much f*cking money.
