[hawaii]

I am having so much fun planning our Hawaii trip! I wish it were closer – March is a long way off. I think we have picked where we will stay – it is this cute, smallish resort about nine miles from Waikiki/Honolulu (we are staying on Oahu). Most likely going for seven days. And there are just so many things to see! We are looking into taking a day trip to another island, but I’m not sure yet if that will happen. It is about $300 for both of us to fly to another island and back, but I think it would be great to see more than one. And yes, that is expensive, but it’s really not that much when you take into account how much this trip is going to cost!

I do know we are for sure going to the Pearl Harbor museums (Greg is into military/war history), and Diamond Head. I would love to see a volcano, but it appears the best prospects for that are on Hawaii Island.

A big part of my research is into the whole process of flying – neither one of us has ever flown before, so I am learning how that works and what the rules are. Once we have everything booked and find out what our airline is, we can look at buying luggage (since all we have is backpacks – no fancy luggage required when all you do is go camping!) It seems they have their own requirements for sizes of checked bags, etc. All so much planning, but I am a planner by nature, so it is fun for me to coordinate the logistics of things like this!

I’ll try to share more details as I get them nailed down. I have been all over the travel deal websites (like Expedia), and have also contacted a travel agent who I was referred to by someone I know. She should be getting back to me on Monday, and once I know her findings and can compare them to my own to figure out the best deal, I can actually book this thing! I can’t wait!
