Just Another Day in Paradise…
Not much different or interesting to report in my world. Just planning, preparation, being a house-fiancee, failure, and letters from serial killers.
Planning: Wedding plans are coming along quite nicely. We have the reception site booked, the photographer contract signed, the cake designed and deposit made, the DJ lined up, the pastor booked, and the church lined up. I’m hoping to have as much done by the end of the summer as possible before I start the next phase of my life…
Preparation: On September 6, 2011 I embark upon the 2 year journey called graduate school. A total of 11 people were accepted into the 2013 class in the Department of Leadership Studies in Education and Organizations, so I feel honored to be a part of the cohort. I just have to prepare to lose the free time I became accustomed to since finishing my undergrad in spring 2010.
Being a house-fiancee: I’ve been living with Bobby for the past two months and so far so good. Our schedules have meshed well and we have been able to maintain our sanity. We make each other laugh daily, which is such a blessing.
Failure: I failed miserably at my July 30 Day Shred exercise plan. I did 3 days of the program and gave up. My legs were so sore and it felt more like monotonous torture than a fun and engaging exercise program. I’ll have to find another exercise plan to get in shape for the wedding.
Letters from serial killers: To be more precise, there was only one letter from one serial killer, but how many people can say they’ve held a serial killer’s handwritten letter in their hand? One of our former forensics professors does neurological research on criminals and we happened to get a letter in the mail this morning. The letter was stamped "Mule Creek Prison" in Ione, California. Out of morbid curiosity I did a Google search for the name on the return address: Patrick W. Kearney…otherwise known as the Trash Bag Killer who murdered approximately 35 people in the 1970s. I gave the unopened letter to another forensics professor who will route it to the proper recipient. What a crazy and somewhat creepy start to my Monday morning!
That *is* creepy! I wouldn’t have opened it either! Glad the wedding preparation is coming along. There are plenty of exercise programs out there, so I’m sure you’ll find the right one. 🙂
