Theme – Planetary Life
Q. Do you believe in life on other planets?
Yes.
A lot of people profess the sheer improbability of our existence as a sign that we are alone. And it is true that there are an incredible number of variables that have correlated into our existence.
But, of course, when you take an improbable possibility and spread it out liberally over the theoretical infinity that is the width and breadth of our universe, probability dictates that there will eventually be other match ups that provide the proper conditions for life.
This isn’t to say any other such life is near or like is or even sentient. But we won’t know what’s out there until we contact it and we won’t get out there to contact it fighting over infinitesimal portions of out little dirt ball.
Just wanted to drop you a note. I love your diary. How do you find all these news articles and tidbits? It’s great stuff. And I love your commentary. Just thought I’d let you know cause I don’t note often but I do read.

I see that the theme of life is to repete a pattern in many variations. Nothing seems to be singular. The question is: Is there anything where there is only one?

Or like they say in “Contact”: if it’s just us, seems like an awful waste of space!
