News – Will He Veto?

North America

The Senate passes a pork bloated war spending bill. Now lets see Bush show some balls and veto like he said he would.

Rummy again on the defensive on Iraq. So it shall be until the conflict is over, I believe.

Middle East

The EU is doing what it can to stave off disaster in Palestine, without directly supporting Hamas. Which is more than the US has done.

As Bush says, he won’t deal with Hamas. Even if it means consigning millions to extreme and perhaps deadly hardship by cutting their country off from, more or less, everything he can. A futile gesture since I doubt Hamas(a disciplined group) will fall to such base tactics. The people might rise up against them, but that would only cause more havoc and destruction in a country that has known little else for a long time.

Still, Abbas is trying to get the path t negotiation opened. It is, in my opinion, a better way as I don’t think it likely Hamas will give in to the blackmail being used against them now. I only hope Olmert will realize this.

This is how discussions on Iraq and terrorism should go. Detailed, well informed opinions. Polite diction. An actual discourse, without demagoguery.

Turkey, Iran and the PKK are stirring up trouble together in the north of Iraq.

Of course, Islamists use First Person Shooters, all modded up, as part of their propaganda campaign. And why not? The US Army has done the same with their own FPS game(which sucks, IMO – Minimal solo play, all online).

Asia

It seems that some South Koreans are heavily opposed to the construction of a new US military base in their region.

General

The Blogs look at Zacarias Moussaoui’s sentence and levy their opinions on the matter.

Today’s Papers has ‘many health experts worldwide’ suggesting that global warming is causing many insect borne diseases to spread and head north, Kaiser Permanente’s cheapskate kidney-transplant unit, potential ‘baggage meltdown’ at airports due to a lack of screeners and more in the one page news.
