Israel can’t have it both ways. Ignoring us and demanding we listen to them.

Colon Powell might meeting with the co-authors of the Geneva Initiative this week. Vice Premier Ehud Olmert noted that this did not please Israel. Of course, the irony is that when Israel does something we don’t like and we express this, they don’t listen either. So why should our government give a care what Israel thinks? That’s why good allies listen to each other and compromise.
With 300 dignitaries at the Geneva Initiative event, it isn’t something to me ignored. Though I’d agree that Sharon’s disapproval is still an endorsement of it. He just can’t win this one. Unless he makes significant moves toward peace.

Iraq
Now Iraqi officials are challenging the US military’s play of events in the Samarra battle. They accuse US solders of spraying random fire and killing civilians. So what was the body count? And whose bodies were they? Fedayeen or civilian? Did the civialis fire ont eh US or were the merely bystanders? Who has the truth?
US forces may have captured or killed Izzat Ibrahim in a raid near Kirkuk. He’s currently #2 behind Saddam in the wanted list.
Korea
A South Korean parliamentary team has recommended that South Korea send more troops to Iraq. They also warned, however, that they woud likely become the targets of militants. That’s a given.
Africa
Human Rights Watch has accused Nigeria of torturing and killing several of its critics over the last two years. They want the commonwealth to address these abuses at the December 5-8 Commonwealth summit.
US
The Department of Homeland Security has dropped the register rule for visitors from abroad who are male and from 25 select countries.. The move is said to have been done to free up resources for more effective, individual means of rooting out terrorists rather than geographical ones.
Texas Tech University professor Thomas Butler has been found guilty on 47 counts out of a total of 69 federal charges brought against him. He was found innocent of lying to the FBI.
Some analysts question if the spending on this years Black Friday were as good as was said.
The US Supreme Court is hearing a case to decide if a decision made in 2002 should be applied retroactively. The prior decision being that only juries, not judges, can give the death penalty. Applied retroactively, this could effect a great many previously decided cases.
