News – Saddam Captured

“Ladies and gentlemen, we got him”

So says Paul Bremer.

And despite it all, I find myself skeptical still. We’ve been lied to often. had things spun, flipped and colored often. They say they have done a blood test. I’d be quite a bit more mollified if the results of that blood test were spread around to a wide range of third parties

But,m for now, lets assume that he is quite captured.

The questions are many.

Will this effect the insurgent attacks? Will they increase or decrease?

Will Iraqis be more cooperative as some think? Will they, the ever skeptical, believe?

Will the international community come around?

Will Saddam have the intelligence that the US has been desperate for? Most prominently, WMD intelligence.

And many others, though these are the most prominent.

I suppose we’ll get to see what the answer to these are in time.

One of the curious things is how the news commentators I’ve been watching have taken no small pleasure in emphasizing the degradation in how he was captured and comparing his unkempt appearance now, in contrast to when he was on top of Iraq.

It seems strange to me that he would allow himself to be taken alive… but who knows? I guess we’ll all watch and see… if it is him will he be tried by a War Crimes tribunal? all I can say is that if it is him I sure hope that all of his accusers can testify against him and that it’s not done in some secret US Military Tribunal.

He could be one of the dozen or so doubles, but I have a problem believing the government. Its getting too close to the election. Even if it is actually him, I doubt if the violence will end. We have lost too many of the “hearts and minds” of the Iraqi people.

Hold on Anerica… this STILL does not justify the war AND the unceasing goal according to Bush on 9-13-01 was to get bin Laden? Who? When’s the last time you heard that name out of Dubya’s mouth?

I doubt it will stem the insurgency. Most of the anti-Us fighters didn’t like Saddam either, so this won’t do any damage to their morale.

Oddly, this brings to mind Harry Potter trying to convince the Wizarding community that “He Who Must Not Be Named” was back. Odd feeling, that.~Kind Thoughts~
