Hamas’ leading intellectual says that the group won’t attack settlers or troops there to withdraw them during the pullout from Gaza. “In order to guarantee a smooth withdrawal and get civilised control over the vacated areas Hamas will never ask its members to attack,” Salah al-Bardawil, the main columnist for the organisation’s weekly paper, Al Risalat, told the Guardian. We’ll see won’t we?
The body of the last of a group of four Navy SEALs that went missing in Afghanistan has been found. It’s closure at least.
Cyrus Kar, an -born filmmaker, U.S. Navy veteran and American in Iraq, was released from US custody after eight weeks. He was taken into custody when a search of the taxi he was being driven in found washing machine timers, a common component in improvised bombs. Likely the driver was the one to blame for those, rather than the passenger.

The real problem is that 70 years ago FDR committed the greatest and worst coup in US history. He stole the Supreme Court by packing it with his liberal comrades (I use the term very deliberately) and so we lean there today. The worst event in US governmental history.

Jeb’s Sciavo case shows a clear pattern in Bush family behavior. Both his brother and Dad have it too. Stand like a pillar on principle until the last moment when all is lost. Then abandon the pilar like it was never there and move on to the next pilar. Even if the pilar is of mixed composition claim it is pure as virgin white marble…until it falls and you move on. An odd trait.

It is such a 100% mix of principle and expediency. W seems beligerant in so many ways, yet he invites Teddy Kennedy over for movies and popcorn, and most tellingly he has never, ever vetoed a bill. In five years. Just plain inexplicable.
