News – Give it up Bush

Maybe I’m the only one, but I’m starting to get a little tired of Bush using the same old crap to try and explain himself and squeeze justification out of his war. The war is done, justification now matters little. He should be focused on rebuilding Iraq, since it seems obvious he and his crew just can’t seem to get it right.

US

“I acted because I was not about to leave the security of the American people in the hands of a madman. I was not about to stand by and wait and trust in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein,” Bush said.

Don’t be an idiot, Bush. No one is saying you should have left the security of the US in the hands of a madman. Statements like that are so ludicrously pointless that it makes me want to laugh. We’re saying you should have taken the time to make a real case for going into Iraq rather than faking one as quickly as possible and lying to us all.

Really, would that have been too much to ask?

Our sights are now set on Cuba, plans being made to starve Castro out. I don’t see why Castro allows us to keep a base on his country with this going on. Bush was quick to point out we’re not going in with guns. Is this sudden concern about Castro a poorly veiled attempt to draw anti-Castro Cuban American voters in Florida? He’s even gone so far as to say Cuba has a limited bio weapons program. Proof please?

Unlike last time, Wesley Clark came under fire in this latest Democratic Debate. Prime targets were his past support of republicans and his flip-flop on the Iraq war. In the next month he’ll be fleshing out his views in four policy speeches.

Parents are suing a school for installing a Wi-Fi network, believing the radio waves will harm the growth of their kids.

The Dean Campaign trumps Slate’s drinking game with D-E-A-N-O a bingo-style debate-watching game, to mock the candidates’ various rhetorical tics. And other tidbits from the campaign trail.

Iraq

Two US troops were killed, four injured in an ambush while they patrolled a slum in Baghdad.

Israel/Palestine/Syria?

Israeli forces killed six Palestinians in a raid on a refugee camp.

What are Sharon’s motives? Is he intentionally seeking to damage the Palestinian people or is it accidental? Or some other combination of factors? Is Arafat really his target or is he a means to a separate end?

Now the new PM is contemplating resigning. This BS with Arafat is starting to get really annoying.

General

Iranian lawyer Shirin Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize today for her work defending human rights. She’s always been a thorn in the side of Iran’s Clerical Hardliners. May she continue to be that itchy spot you just can’t reach to scratch. 😉

Recent code theft has pushed back the release date of Half Life 2 to April 30th. Yes, back until next year. So if any of you have access to any code from Half Life 2, respect the makers and send a missive to Valve and VU Games. This sort of bullshit dosen’t fly.

Web developoers are rumbling at the lack of good standards support in IE. Personally, I hope MS never updates support for standards in IE so they can lose their deathgrip over the browser market and free developers from relying on their software. See, this is the sort of crap that happens when someone has a manolpoly. No competition = no reason for innovation.

Kill Bill is rated as empty bliss. I’m inclined to believe that and I think I will greatly enjoy it when I go to see this weekend.

International Papers has mixed reactions to the California recall election. Some derride it, some laud it. I remain undecided and will wait to see if Arnold has anything to say for himself through his actions.

“I acted because I was not about to leave the security of the American people in the hands of a madman.” Gee, it comes to my mind that that’s exactly what has happened… Many would not argue if I said Bush is nuts.

(shrugs) Considering the fact that I now live in the slums of Mosul and have been to the palace in that town, one of 30+ palaces that dickhead had, one might suggest he was a real looney. That point isn’t something ya debate. The rest of it is whatever you make of it. Me? I see a country that’s only now evolving because of our work. Did we need to do it? Nah. ’43

“I acted because I was not about to leave the security of the American people in the hands of a madman. I was not about to stand by and wait and trust in the sanity and restraint of Saddam Hussein,” Bush said. Wait, does he actually believe himself? That’s the sad part.

I’ve seen that picture of the fat kids before. I feel ahead of the times, suddenly.
