Muse – The Politics Circle

I’ve been silent for some time on how people use the circle. Largely because, before, some have not abused it so much. At least, in the way that I classify abuse and misuse. I’m not talking about the ToS agreement, I’mt alking about my own personal views.

But recently some have been cramming quite a few entries into the circle with, while technically doesn’t break the rules, is counterproductive to the circle’s purpose. I can understand when some writers are prolific and occasional spurts of high traffic are quite alright, but when I look and see that the circle has largely been dominated by a single name and all of those entries are merely a regurgitation of articles that have been culled from the net.. it gives be cause for concern.

I do the same thing, in a way, but I condense a day’s worth of scattered links into a single daily post. In part because it makes it easier to read and find what you want to see, but because it minimizes my footprint on a means by which we share our opinions and writings.

I would like to encourage others to not stop their search for articles to share, but to consider doing as I do. Making organized posts of many links, perhaps even with some commentary. I ask this because it’s unfair to make a regular bevy of posts that more or less shove other posters right off the immediate list before even a day has passed since they added a post to the circle. It’s rude, to be blunt.

Thank you for your consideration.

I have always found your entries to be well thought out and sensible. You make a good point here though I doubt he will understand this or curtail his agenda.

it’s not that people lke banfield or johnirish are prolifc… they just post about 20 articles a day.

Here here! I shall second or third or perhaps it seems fourth this idea.

Technically speaking, reproducing copyrighted work on this site is illegal.

I much prefer the way you post links and offer your comments with them. Some others post the cut and paste editorials without even a word of comment and only a regular reader might even know that the piece is just cut and pasted from elsewhere or what the OD thinks of it. You have one of the nicest ODs here.

Say what you will but the only reason I started posting to the circle, was it was dominated by one person, and still is if you count the entries on the front now. I have had a dozen or so folks who have thanked me for posting an alternative to Banfields posts some of which are nothing more than “Damn Were Good” in large letters. I appreciate the way you do your diary, but not ….

..has the time and I personally feel, most folks here are intelligent enough to read and understand what is being said. In other words I don’t have time to explain each article for the reader. Once in a while I have a comment. I DO NOT plagiarize anything I post like Banfield and others, but it would be helpful if others posted to the circle. For those that know my diary, know that I never…

ever before posted to the politics circle. I started when someone suggested I do it to counter Banfields continuous BS. I’m sure those who don’t agree with what I post would like to see me go, but for now unless some of my FAVs ask me to quit, I won’t.

I respect your diary and your concern enough that I wanted to reply to you directly.

I just checked the circle and Banfield has 10 posts, I have 4.

I have to admitt, for a short while, I was caught up in the posting. I would post one and she would post 2 or 3 and that won’t happen again. I only posted to the circle because someone had asked me to. I’m going to ask my FAVs, and you are one, whether I should stop posting to the circle, limit or something else, but as much as I would like to do a diary like yours I don’t have the time.

One last note and I will leave you alone, the only way to really end this, even if I stop altogether, is to have the DM limit how many posts by one diary can be made to the circle each day. I would be willing to request this if you back it and support it also. What do you think?
