Muse – The Iraqi People
Is it just me or does it seem that the Iraqi people aren’t going to get what they want? I recall many times hearing the term ‘the Iraqi People’ being thrown around and statements of letting them decide what they want and their future.
Considering the Shia majority has actually started to coalesce as a collective, if disorderly unit, you might expect that the Bush Administration and all would sit up and take notice of what lots of the Iraqi people are saying. While it’s a little too early to start the heavy condemnation, I don’t like how things are looking so far.
For one, the desire by the Shia majority(60% of Iraq’s population) to have a theocratic government is there. Personally, I’m not that pleased about another religious government, but hey.. the Iraqi people are free. They can choose to be run by the clergy of their religion, right? That’s part of being free.
But when I see some potential bombshells about US officials musing ways to prevent a theocratic government, it makes me wonder. When I read about Garner up in friendly Kurdish lands when a lot of Iraqis are starting to get hostile, I wonder.
I wonder a lot. But its too soon to be certain.
However I have the feeling that the Iraqi people aren’t going to get what they want. I’m not even sure of just what they want, but by current outlook, they likely won’t be getting it. I mean, why would the bush Administration want to replace Saddam’s secular government with yet another fundamentalist government that goes by Islamic law. Another potential human rights hazard in the making.
One of the very real possibilities, but after their kick to give the Iraqi people what they want, it seems a bit foul for them to get squeamish now when the Iraqi people decide they don’t want to be turned into Little America.
Either give the people what they want or have the balls to admit you’re going to give them what you think they want. Enough of the BS spin. Enough games and double speak.
Is it still Bush’s way or the highway?
It’s always been Bush’s way. ;P Rest well. 🙂

How long do I have to wait before I can scream “I told you so!” at every pro-war dingbat on opendiary?

so real life isn’t just like star wars, but i doubt even now the people with the power can’t work it out. they didn’t work it out in afghanistan. how many other countries are they planning to destroy this way? ryn~ i wouldn’t want anybody to have to put up with me – especially at the moment. it’s too much to hope that c has finally grown up.
