Muse – Claiming of Point of View

Personally, I find it amusing and sad whenever someone prefaces their statements on politics with their political affiliation. As if that gives some definition to their statements after the fact. I’ve never done so because I find such qualifications to be more or less worthless. It tells you nothing about the person, since rare is the person who believes in everything their claimed party stands for.

As well, I have absolutely no desire to be associated with either party, even in the most basic terms. I find both Democrats and Republicans distasteful for their adherence to party issues over personal belief. This need to belong to a club too often subsumes personal thought, allowing one to simply tote the party line without worrying about things like facts.

I’ll be a happy, happy man when the two major parties dissolve and we can get around to the task of reasoning out our own defined beliefs rather than clinging slavishly to our political affiliations.

PS: I accuse my noters of none of this, personally. Though I did get the idea for this mini-rant from one of my latest notes, the commentary above has nothing to do with him as an individual.

AMEN, we need new thinking all the way around. Both parties are bankrupt of ideas AND moral leadership.
