Me – No Net Weekend
It hasn’t been the best of weekends, but it could have been worse. Started late in last week when I came home on Thursday to find my net down. Decidedly annoying, but rare as Cox is pretty good at the Cable internet biz. It got worse when it was down Friday.. then Saturday. I discovered Friday that it was an issue with my modem. I found out Saturday that I had to replace my modem.
Yes, I know. Serious suckage, but as it turns out they were replacing modems for free. But on Sat, I was in no mood for it so I geared up and set out, headed for Tysons Corner Center. Why there? Two words.
Apple Store.
The only pitfall of that lil shop that I enjoy so much(about the only place that I don’t have to scour the system requirements to see if the game I’m buying is Mac compatible), is that it is a looooong ways away. It’s a near two hour commitment to get there from home. But from time to time I head over to be immersed in a store solely for my choice of platform. When places like that are rare, it’s a wonderful thing that Windows users just won’t understand. 😉
I got lost on the way, as I impatiently took a bus from the nearest station to a spot near the mall and walked in the wrong direction to get there. But I eventually got pointed straight and made it to the mall. Hitting the Apple Store, I splurged on five games I wanted, to make up for days without reliable internet(Internet at work is comparatively slow) and then headed home after finding no nearby, easily accessible movie theater.
Come Sunday, I got the data and got a ride out to the retail center to get my new modem. Not only new, but a different type. Might be an upgrade in comparison to what I have, but I have yet to look up the new modem’s type. Asked as I was getting it and turns out the modem I had was one of many that responded poorly to an update that worked in other places.
Got dropped off at the movie after an early lunch and caught Hellboy(fun movie with some laughs and good action), then headed home. Plug int he new modem and bam, I’m back on without further issue and glad to have it back.
Not the most idea of weekends, but not without it’s sun. Now, if you’ll excuse me, back to Elite Force 2. 🙂
