Log – Through Darkness to Illumination (6/6)
** Begin location description **
Dregtown – Old School – Boarding Room
A plain boarding room. There are beds built into the walls to either side, with nice desks at the end of the beds. Oddly enough the beds are very long. Long enough for say a 9ft individual to fit comfortably. There are closets to either side of the room, one for each bed and desk. Large openable picture windows look out to the east of Kingsdale. From this height you can see the city wall.
** End location description **
Haplo Gegs the door to the 1st room is unlocked of course, as no residents are in there currently. “Well, you can’t really miss him. He is a Dog boy species, there aren’t that many here in the city. If you can’t locate him, just ask around. I’m sure someone here in the school knows of his were abouts.”
Contrary nods her head a little as she looks around the interior of the room, noticing the long beds. and the desks. “Thanks..” The obviousness of not knowing what to look for hitting her. “What’s his.. coloring?”, she asks, glancing over her shoulder a moment before she crosses the room, toward the desk by one bed. The door is left open. Perhaps an invitation, perhaps absentmindedly forgotten. When she gets there, she tosses her cap on the bed and slowly takes off her jacket.
Haplo Gegs ponders a bit, “His coloring? Uh, well.” Haplo thinks a few moments, “Well he is gray in color I think. And wears a thin set of glasses.” Haplo shrugs a bit, “He is about as reclusive as Discord was. Perhaps more.” Haplo grins a bit. Then he thinks to himself a bit, he overts his eyes as you do what you are doing. He of course does not come into the room, as it is yours now.
“I’ll look for him.”, Contrary murmurs as she shifts the jacket to one hand, held by the collar as she roots in an inner pocket for a few moments, before drawing out a small bag, the rattle of plastic credit chips as she drops it on the desk. Her hand slips in again and she pulls out something else. a glitter seen in the gap between the jacket and her profile. She tosses the jacket on the bed carelessly, then lifts the item into clearer view. A sword hilt of distinctive design, with spirals of wood and metal and two large diamonds. It’s definitely Techno-Wizardry. And it is most certainly a device that was once in the possession of one particular Techno-Wizard, rarely far from her person. She handles it carefully, looking at the ornate weapon for a moment, lightly caressing it with her fingertips before she turns to gently set it on the desk.
Haplo Gegs ponders a few moments as he thinks about your actions, then about your perdiciment. Then he notices the blade. An item which he isn’t positive about, but is fairly sure that he recognizes. He tilts his head a little bit as he thinks about this. “Uh, pardon me. I don’t think I got your name.”
Contrary looks up and turns at Haplo’s question. Again, silence is the immediate response. follows soon enough by words. “Well.. I.. Contrary. But, I’m not sure if that’s my real name..” A soft, nervous laugh that only lasts a moment. “It’s a long story..”, she says as she turns to slowly sit on the edge of the bed.
Haplo Gegs nods slowly, “Well I’m glad you are comfortable here Contrary.” Haplo says softly, “I will leave you be to rest, but before I go. Might I ask where you aquired that item?” Haplo says softly as he nods to the sword hilt on the table.
Contrary glances toward the TW sword hilt and its ornate shape. Another hesitation. More uncertainty. “I found it.. when I woke up.. its mine.” That last breaking through the uncertainty with a light certainty and bit of defensive tone. As if to be certain it remains so, she reaches out quickly to take it and safely cradle the device in her lap.
Haplo Gegs nods slowly, “Do you know what it is?”
“Yes.. its a weapon.”, Contrary says, looking toward you with a furrowed brow. “I’ve used it before.. why do you ask?” Her defensiveness calms, though she starts to unconsciously pet the sword hilt, lightly running her fingers over it.
Haplo Gegs nods slowly, “Oh, so you know how to use then?” Haplo thinks a few moments, “You are a mage of sorts then I take it?”
Contrary glances down slightly at the weapon, not leaving it alone. “I think so.. I’m not sure. I know things.. things I don’t remember learning. It’s strange. Like instinct.. but not really.” Her brow furrows as she concentrates her thoughts on something.
Haplo Gegs nods slowly, “I see. You don’t have anything else that you just woke up with do you? Something similar in nature to that item?”
Contrary looks up, seeming reluctant all of a sudden. She rolls her shoulders in a faint shrug. “I found.. some things. My things.”, she says quietly. “Things I could use.. I needed to leave.” An abrupt pause. An internal war between trust and mistrust, only vaguely apparent in her fits and starts of response.
Haplo Gegs nods slowly, “I’m sorry. I do not mean to trouble you my dear. It is only that I think I have seen that item before, though I must be mistaken. The item I know of would not be out its owners possession.” Haplo smiles, “I will leave rest now. If you need anything you have but to ask any of the instructures here. Or myself.” With that he begins to slowly close the door.
Contrary looks down at the ornate weapon slowly a Haplo speaks, nodding vaguely to the tips. It is only when the door starts to close that she speaks up. “Thank you.” Though she doesn’t look up, sitting on the edge of the bed quietly.
Haplo Gegs closes the door, and leaves you to your rest.
Definitely will be curious how things develop with that storyline 😉
