DT – Updated Front End and Poser Update

Updated to include some more info and adjusted the top blurb to something more appropriate. Boos and accolades accepted as well as suggestions to fill the other 4000k of characters. They seem so wasted.

Now, on to Poser 5.

I haven’t been ignoring it since I got the software.

Being mystified, frustrated and stymied, sure. But not ignoring. I’ve found that this software is far more complex and involved than I thought. But it has been slowly starting to grow on me. Some blocks surpassed, others remain.

For one, I still don’t get making dynamic hair. Its hard.. especially when the hair gets longer. It gets more unwieldy to manage, so I think I’ll leave dealing with that until I get to a more advanced stage. Even though most of the figures I want to make(such as the Pale Woman) are long haired folks.

One fortunate thing is that many average, everyday poses are already ‘included’ to be applied to the figures you put into the scene. This makes things decidedly easier to start off from a spot close to where you want to end up. If you want your character to be crouched, you can apply that, then tweak their posture to your taste.

Also, some dynamic hair styles are included already. A few days ago, I made a chick in a catsuit(to get down the basics of applying clothing) and a pre-fab ponytail, then made a small walking animation with her walking along a path.

The walk designer that comes with the software is an interesting bit. It lets you blend ‘types’ of walks together with little nuances to create a unique walk. I had some fun with applying far too much head bob, watching her walk along like some insane living bobble head doll.

The clip, which was at a moderate size, was also not too big in the file size department. It wasn’t a very good production.. no background or the like. But it was a start. I think I’ll try to work out something better for present here. Starting with trying to do basics. I’m still getting used to how the camera works and how it records as you pose the figure. I think I might try doing a keyframe animation next, but I’ll be looking for some tutorials to help me do it the first time, to get a feel for it.

I haven’t even considered buying content yet.

You can buy premade figures, clothing, hair, backgrounds, props and every other thing from sites online. 5 -20 bucks will get you some good content usually. Several poses, several figures, several outfits and the like. I figure if I find anything I plan to use for a good price I might as well pay someone for the chance to use their product. Since I can’t make it myself for the time being. 😉

Ultimately, I’m not going to do too much of that, though. I’m liking this software, despite how difficult it is to learn. I’m confident I’ll get into it eventually.

Urgent!! Is there a way I can contact Cyn? I can be reached at dawningod@comcast.net, please let me know… Gin

I can also be reached at 503-473-3095, please call me as soon as possible. Gin

lol, so, by now, you’ll have heard from C that her guy friend arrived. (I don’t know his name, lmao.) I was able to contact her via e-mail at work, hehe. 🙂 She’s absolutely torn as to whether to take his heart if he offers it, or to abstain from him for the sake of keeping you. She’s quite befuddled by the suddenness of it all.

I’ll be on AIM (gdawncom) whenever I’m online tomorrow, in case you need this line of communication open. I’m sure she’ll be talking to him one on one, me one on one, and you one on one. I don’t mind keeping you informed of what’s going on in her head. She’s pretty open that way. I’m sure she’ll let you know, but spies are good, no? 😉 -Gin

Anyhoo, I’ll be hard at work being productive, and invisible. I want her to focus on him. Cool stuff. Good thing I know a couple of 24 hour places I can go to to hang out if she asks me to get out of the house. 😉 Hope you don’t mind my notes on the matter. You’re perfectly welcome to tell me to shut up, too. 🙂 -Gin

I want very much to see what you’ve rendered. I played with Poser a couple of years ago (downloaded some of the models and such too, naughty me). I loved it but it crashed my puter so I stopped. 😉 I wanna see your animation, it sounds amusing. 🙂 -Gin
