I’ve finally bought into an MMORPG. I had planned on it later this year, but decided to take the plunge more recently. As in, early this week. After nearly a week in the game, I’m still playing, still interested and exploring. World of Warcraft is a huge game.

But not just in the sense of big, wide MMORPG, lots of quests and all that. The feel of it is huge. I got that feel when, while running my new human Paladin(Valanx), around(one of five characters I currently have started, more to come), I ran my way into Stormwind, the major human city in the game. From the massive statues that graced the entry to the sprawling, varied city itself, it was huge.

The same with my dwarven warrior Duane, running into Ironforge, the dwarf and gnome main city. Again, huge.. massive and varied, including a few big statues here and there. Not only that, but both spots had lots of people running around. It’s a bit intimidating to run into one of these major cities and see all of these 50+ level people in fancy armor and on mounts, when you’re still tooling around under 10th, with basic gear.

But I’ll be one of them someday. Though I doubt I’ll ever get guilded. I’ve never taken well to guilds, though most people seem to be ensconced in them.

The classes are interesting and varied as well. I’ve played, thus far, a Rogue(Night elf), Hunter(Tauren), a Paladin(Human), a Warlock(Undead) and a warrior(Dwarf). I still haven’t had a Troll, Orc or Gnome, but I will. Nor have I had a Mage, Priest, Shaman or Druid, but I will. The classes are all a bit different. There are vastly different strategies to playing a Rogue vs. a Hunter or a Warrior vs. a Paladin. What, difference between Warrior and Paladin? Surely so. Mainly, warriors go off of a force called rage, where as most other classes have mana(Rogues have energy). Rage fuels all their skills and they can only generate it through combat. When not fighting, they loose rage at a pace of about 3 units per second or two. So when a warrior is in a dangerous place, they’re best suited to moving quickly from critter to critter to maintain their rage and fuel their skills.

Very interesting.

There’s so much to see in this game, I’ve no doubt it will keep me occupied for quite some time. Once I get all of the classes accounted for, I’ll have to take shots of my early characters so I can see how they develop with time and levels.

Oh and if you’re in the game and want to look me up, I’m on the Cenarion Circle realm.

It would be daunting to learn a game on one’s own. I had Butterfly to hassle with questions about AC, or I wouldn’t have taken to it as strongly. I don’t like figuring things out, I like to just play, hehe.
