Welcome to Open Diary

Well, today I decided to launch my own website on Open Diary.  Why choose it, you ask?  Well, I thought it’d make a difference from the masses who use the likes of spacebook, myface, be5, hi-bo and whatever else.

Plus OD is the grandaddy of all the blog sites out there on the Internet as far as I know, so I thought "why not?"  After all, I am a veteran Net user having first started using it back in the mists of time in 1997 when I was living in Clayfield with my then-g/f Julie and had an email account with The Hub, one Brisbane’s first Internet cafes out there which put on some cool live music on weekends, but a few years later it sadly got bought out by Pacific Internet but the building is still there today on Margaret Street.

Anyway, today I got up and did a bit of work on my Bebo page which has been neglected for quite a long time.  The girl who is the president of the Veronicas fan club has just joined my network on there, so I thought I’d better spruce it up and make it look a lot more impressive.

I can’t believe how many people are stressing out about this swine flu that’s currently spreading around the news like wildfire.  If I eat a ham sandwich and die today, well at least I won’t have to worry about it other than the fact that I never got to fulfill my rock’n’roll dreams unlike Mama Cass (who died in 1974 after eating a ham sandwich, incidentally).  If you don’t know who she is, then look her up on Google.  It’s your best friend on the Net, unless you were young and hip in the 1960’s.

I’ve been feeling strangely light-headed for much of today, don’t know why.  I’ve been eating properly, taking reasonably good care of my health of late so I don’t know why I’m feeling that way.  If the feeling doesn’t go away by tomorrow, I will go and see my doctor about it.

Tomorrow is pay day for me again, so it’s just as well because I’m still feeling rather dejected at being retrenched from Domino’s due to their recent change in management and taking aboard new staff.  Is nothing built to last these days for heaven’s sake??

Though I am still going to go and look for some new work to tie me over the next few months to save up to go to England in either August or September.  It has been years since I’ve been there, in fact coming close to 27 now!  I have not set foot in my home country ever since emigrating here.  Mum, Dad and Melissa have paid a number of visits – only Lee and I haven’t.  I don’t see Lee going over there anytime soon with him having to take care of Jill and his kids.  Adelaide is going to be baptised soon, so that should be a special occasion.  She’s so cute – always with a sweet and cheeky little smile whenever I see her.

I am getting back into rehearsing with d-Wizz 2.0 again as from this week.  I kinda feel bad that I missed the gig on ANZAC day evening that he was playing at with the John Steel Singers, especially because Ben Preece had mentioned that Robert Forster from the Go-Betweens was in the audience and had been checking out d-Wizz’s merchandise.  I don’t know if he bought anything, but if he did – woot! – we’ve got a celebrity fan at last!!

Other things I want to get done this week is get my windscreen fixed (it’s got a big crack in it which was already there when I got it in January), as well as ring my friend Lei-Lani who seems to have fallen on hard times for the umpteenth time in seven years.  The poor woman has constantly been in the wars ever since I first got to know her in mid-2002.  Even though we don’t see each other much, she’s been one of the few women out there in the music and arts field who has come to my defence on a number of occasions when other people have shat on me, so she deserves my support.

On Friday, I will be taking a two month sabbatical from internet activities to get my teeth stuck into practising my guitar and piano as well as teaching myself accounting and maths for my business endeavours I want to get off the ground.  I was a real cop-out with those subjects at school due to my poor concentration skills, but now that I am older and having done yoga and meditation classes I’ve found that I am able to keep my mind focused on things a lot better which is good.

I’ll be writing my diary entries into my physical diary, and then on July 1st will come back to the Internet and start posting them on here and a select few on my other blog sites.

I believe that in the end we all create our own success and excitement and luck from what we do or what we fail to do.  I am reminded of the old saying "Two men were sitting in a prison cell.  One saw mud, the other saw stars."
