Gettin’ in the Xmas Spirit

Dear Diary,

Well this past week has been fun!  My Thanksgiving was nice and quiet.  My mother, brother and I went out to a restaurant where they had a free dinner.  My brother and I grew up and still like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so we watched TMNT after dinner at the restaurant on my portable DVD player with headphones.  My mother had a nice time as well, though she was very quiet.  She’s probably thinking about my deceased father whom we all love and miss.  God Bless Poppy.

Then the Saturday afterwards I went to my community meal where I help serve the needy in the neighborhood.  Then that night my mom and I had a Lake Erie Monsters hockey game to go to and their promotion was a free fleece blanket.  It was the main reason I got tickets to that particular game.  Problem was that the lighting of the downtown Cleveland christmas lights were beforehand (lights 6-7pm, and game starts at 7:30pm).  Well I had read on their little calanders & thought it said they only gave away 2,000.  Later it would be known that I read it wrong and it was 5,000.  Thus since we were late I wanted to get to the Q Arena in time to get a fleece and we didn’t go to the lighting ceremony like we were going to.  My mother was disappointed, as she had gotten dressed up and was looking forward to bumping into anyone she knew downtown.  Oh well.  The game was really a good one, the best I’ve seen at a Monsters game.  They played the Manitoba Moose, and there were some Canadians in the upper balcony with a Canadian flag waving over the balcony.  It was tied 4-4 at the end, then the Monsters won in overtime and we went NUTS!!  I bought a black Monsters polo that night and a penant.

On Sunday after church we went to the Cleveland Pops "We Need A Little Christmas" concert at the Palace Theatre.  It would be great because I bought a ticket for my brother as a present and my mom didn’t know.  We weren’t sitting together, he was up on the balcony, we down in orchestra.  It happened during the intermission that my mom and I were both walking up the stairs to hear the music playing and my brother coming down the stairs.  My mother didn’t see him and I slowed down.  He walks up the stairs in front of me and when she turned around it was funny watching her surprise.  It was a great concert and worth it.  We went to Pickwick and Frolic to eat afterwards and my brother shared our meals & I used the Entertainment card the first time since Nov 2, 2007.
