Some people just don’t care

“Some people just don’t care. To them I’m just some virtual person on the Internet that isn’t real.  Well in real life I am a giant among avatars that’s over 6 feet tall. Because they think I’m not real, they seem to think they have a license to treat me like shit. Is this what life, virtual or otherwise, is coming too?”  Is this where the future brings us, distancing us and having our relationships with a computer monitor rather than a real persons?  How can we sympathize?  How can we empathize?  How can we be compassionate?  How can we know when a person bleeds?  How can we see their hurt?  How can we feel their hurt… on a computer screen?
