Wish for One More Day Off ***Edit Cali Pics Cont.
There is something about the weekend that makes me so happy and sad at the same time… During the week I always make a to do list for the weekend for the things I can’t do during the week. Mostly, I can’t do them because I work long and hard hours and there isn’t much time left at the end of the day for my "wish list" of things to do. When the weekend comes I am super excited and can’t wait to do things. The only problem is that I want to do so much that I never end up doing all of the things that I want to do. Anyway, enough complaining about this because there is still much to do today.
Things that need to be done:
Just a little tidying up left to do, which is very easy and will be done in no time! Yay for that.scrub toilet, sink and all countertopschange sheetsput laundry awayopen up my magic bullet blender for smoothies and organize and get ready for tomorrow morning!!!
Give myself another pedicureGo to Wegman’s for some dessert to bring over to my friend’s house.Stop at my mom’s house to pick up the little present for my friend’s newborn baby. We went together to Baby’s R Us and I accidently left her present there.Do some work…This is the part of my weekend that always takes me away from my "wish list"…*sigh*… I will do this tonight though. I’m just not feeling it for now.Must leave by 1pm to go to my friend’s house.- On my way home, maybe stop at the mall if I leave on time??
- BE HOME AT A REASONABLE HOUR!! (This really isn’t a problem at all, I just REALLY want to leave on time so I can stop at the mall on the way home.)
Pay bills online.
Wish List
- Re-organize my closet…I feel like it’s time for a change. I don’t know exactly how I want to re-arrange, but it needs to happen.
- Re-organize my jacket closet. It’s actually half coat and half scrap booking closet.
- Go to the mall
- Make Christmas cards
- Scrapbook…lots and lots of scrapbooking!!!!!!
- Update my PHR profile (this is for work and not that fun, but this always gets pushed back too when real work needs to be done.)
- Read…lots and lots of books and magazines!! This may be my favorite thing of all, and always gets pushed to the side. I used to always read in bed, but I have taken up reading OD to catch up on all my favs. It’s still reading though, but I am going to make an effort to start reading books again everynight before I go to sleep.
Have a great Sunday. I hope to be back and post more California pictures.
****Edit**** Alcatraz Pictures
This is me on the boat ride to "The Rock
When we landed we had a short orientation and directions on where to get our headphones for the audio tour. As we were walking up we came across this building, which if I remember correctly, was the where the warden lived. As we went higher up the hill I saw such a pretty view of the buildings overlooking the water. It was so ironic that people were imprisoned here with such a beautiful view, but did not have access to it. Many of the pictures I took reminded me of some of the greek isles…ruins overlooking the ocean…just gorgeous…
The morgue…
Sorry for the condition of these pictures. Alot came out blurry. These are the showers when you first walk in.
Everyone received a physical and supplies for their "room".
Here’s my cousin standing next to what a normal cell looked like.
A cell decorated as it were occupied.
Any new cellmates received a Alcatraz Manual with rules and regulations.
Door going out into the yard.
Isolation
The infamous break out attempt in 1946. This "story" was both unbelievable and astounding. Officers were not supposed to take any keys off the ring but for some reason one officer did, which ruined the prisoners breakout attempt. As one officer was dying in a cell he was smart enough to write the names of all prisoners that were involved and circled the names of the ring leaders.
The library

The Officers break room.
Visitors Room
Another break out attempt. See that little hole? I don’t know how someone could have fit through that.
The kitchen and dining commons.
It was such a pretty day. Look at all the sailboats!
From there we headed back to the mainland and took a drive and had lunch at a restaurant on the water. I wanted to rent a bike to ride across the Golden Gate Bridge, but time didn’t allow so we drove across instead.
Here we go…
No dumping!!! I made my cousin pose like this after I saw that sewer sign.
I love this picture. It’s a dead tree, but I think it’s so pretty.
Pretty dark, but here’s a picture of Lombard St. right after we went down it. It’s a very short street and not really what I expected, but it was pretty nonetheless.
I forgot the name of this. I think these houses are called the Colored Ladies, or the Colored Women…something like that.
Ok, it’s just after 9pm so I’m going to wrap this up. I didn’t really get home until about 7:30, but I had such a good time catching up with my girlfriends and snuggling with the baby. I did go online to check my email, but that’s about it. So much work to be done in a short week. I hope I make a big dent tomorrow on my to do list. Overall a wonderful weekend and hopefully I’ll get to my organizing during the Thanksgiving weekend. I can’t wait to hang out with my cousins, it should be wonderful family time! Happy Sunday and good night!!
I’m very much in the re-organize/craft feeling too! I hope you have time to do a lot of what you want. Ashley
