Rockman Experiment (Chapter 1)

“John!”

Jonnie looked up from the schedule toward the sound of his name. He wasn’t always known as Jonnie, but the progression of his name will come in time.

Lena walked over to him and smiled. Jonnie always thought she had a great smile. Most guys commented on her ass, but Jonnie was a gentleman by nature as well as by reputation and being so he had noticed her smile first and her ass second. And why? It was obvious. Gentle first and man second. Jonnie really liked Lena. Lena knew it too. They had got into a conversation once and he had admitted that he did. But Lena had a boyfriend for a long time. She had recently broke up with him, but nothing had changed when it came to Jonnie.

“John, do you have a dollar I can borrow?”

Someone else might have noticed that there wasn’t a hi or how are you. Nothing but asking for a dollar that anyone knew Lena wasn’t going to pay back anyway. But Jonnie was Jonnie and not someone else, so he paid it no mind. He was a nice guy and things like that seem to cling to nice guys. He smiled back at her.

“Sure Lena.”

And being the nice guy that he was, he felt happy enough to open his wallet and give her that dollar.

“Thanks John.”

She smiled at him again and walked off to the soda machine. Jonnie looked at his watch and saw it was time to clock in. The start of another day he sighed to himself…
