Rage (Chapter 3)

The training room was filled with the sound of dull thuds and soft whispers of Joseph’s footfalls. He was fighting the robot training units. He had the difficulity on highest level, the robots made out of titanium alloy. Normally one would wear energy gauntlets to protect their hands, but Joseph’s hands were bare. He hit the units full force, pain nor hurt were not in his body or in his mind. Given the special powers of Knights, he was easily more powerful than normal humans and so he fought without the protection of armor or gauntlets. Young cadets watched from the view windows of the training room with awe in their faces. But no one disturbed him. The rage was easily evident in his eyes and the force of his attacks. The twisted wreckages of three units already lay on the ground even though Joseph had started the training unit only a couple of mintues before.

Nearby the dean of the academy walked next to Anna speaking softly.

“…and that is how one can truely keep balance in life and in self.” the dean finished.

He stopped in front of one of the higher windows on the floor looking down into the training room. He could see the first and second year cadets watching Joseph from the lower levels.

“There is a prime example of the struggle we all face for balance.”

“The cadets, sir?”

“Of course not, the Major I mean.”

“Excuse me sir, but how is the Major’s training session an example.”

“Right there you can see his struggle between his personal need to train and reach higher and to use the training to take out his rage and frustration. Remeber my words. But you would also do well to look to the Major as well, he is an excellet mercenary. One you can learn many things from. About the way of the mercernary and just perhaps about yourself.”

Anna was about to ask him what he meant by the last statement but the dean just nodded to her and strolled off. She turned to the window, watching Joseph for a few moments before strolling off herself. This time with the uneasy feeling that the dean was right about Joseph being able to teach her about herself…
