CoH CoS (Chapter 9)
“Well, you know that my parents and I moved off to college. At the time I thought it was the best idea for me. In all honesty I didn’t want to admit you were right about me needing to grow up, to learn to do things on my own. And while I was there at the university I met someone that changed everything. You remember how hard it was for me to make friends as it is. Well, I met a girl in one of my classes that was so different, so opposite from myself or anyone I had known. She taught me in her own way that everything you said was right. I realized that my parents were smothering me, that I needed to learn to live for myself. But when I tried to talk to them about it, they didn’t understand at all. So I got a flight to the nearest airport and took a taxi to the university, but even though I knew the address of where you lived I didn’t know where that was at the university, so I had been walking for about an hour when I found your room. You know the rest. And that’s about the whole story.” Honey finished.
Damien leaned back in his chair. They had finished the meal by the end of her story. She could see him mulling things over. She still was not used to looking in his eyes. She had met him when his eyes were a “puppy dog” brown. Before they had turned that bright turquoise color.
“So your parents have no idea of where you are right now?”
She dropped her gaze down, “No, they don’t…”
“Have you figured out what you’re going to do?”
“I’d like to stay here, to attend at the university…with you.”
“Honey, my life is alot different from when we were together. I’d have no problems helping you out staying here, attending the university. But I’m letting you know here and now that things aren’t going to be like when we were together.”
Honey, by a great effort of will managed to look Damien in the eyes, “I know that things can’t be the same, but I’d still like to be part of your life again if you’ll let me.”
Damien smiled softly, “Of course I’d like you to be part of my life Honey. But we’re still going to have to call your parents and let them know what’s going on.”
She dropped her head again, “I know.”
“But if you’d like I’ll talk to them myself.”
She looked up, suprised, “Really?”
He smiled again, “Of course.”
He picked up the phone and looked at her.
“Number?”
