CoH CoS (Chapter 16)

Burning light, deadly gracefulness. The lightsabers flashed and hummed. Normally a scene of regular training for the Knights. But now Astari staves flew and whooshed among the sabers. The Arias now trained along side the Knights. Honey and the head mistress of the Arias sat on the grass watching the training session. Curious about Knight and Arias alike, Honey was deep in conversation with Artmis, the head mistress. Artmis, wise in many things, including the two orders, was enjoying the conversation with the young woman.

“So why are all the Arias female? Have there ever been any male Arias?”

Artmis smiled at Honey, collecting her thoughts.

“There has never been a male in the Arias order. We are the last remaining tribe of the Amazons. With that honor we follow the rules of the tribe. Therefore, we do not allow males into our order.”

“What about Tho..er..Daimen?” Honey said, silently chiding herself for still not being used to his Knight name.

“Hmm…I believe that if any male would be a special case, it would be him. His differences, not just from males, but from humans, make him unique. Yet in our order there is no such thing as special cases, so even he could not be Arias.”

“What do you mean differences from humans?”

“Child, you mean to tell me that you were involved with him and you do not know of his origins.”

“I was with him before all the Knight stuff started so I’m still kinda new to all this.”

Artmis nodded and resettled herself on the grass.

“Listen closely, for this is not a story that I do not wish to repeat.”…
