CoH CoS (Chapter 10)

Honey, Chica, Starr, Kit, and Jenn sat on the wide lawn watching Damien go through a martial arts kata. He moved in meditation of the kata, fluid and graceful. It had been two weeks since Honey had started attending the university. The girls had been a bit tense at first with the addition of someone that potentially knew more about Damien than they did to their group, but they had been able to relax more around her as time went on.

“Honey?” Starr spoke up.

“Yes?”

“What was Damien like when you were with him?”

There was silence for a bit, it had been the question all of them wanted to know but none had been daring enough to ask. Honey cleared her throat, thought for a bit and began to talk.

“Well…honestly, alot different.”

“Like what?” this question came from Chica.

“Well..um…he was shy first of all.”

“No way!” This from Jenn.

Honey smiled. Their reactions looked and felt genuine. By just that simple admission she felt much more accepted. It had been important to her to be one of the group after she realized how often these girls hung out with Damien and how important each one was to him.

“Yes, he was actually. And he was..um..less built back then.”

“Really?” this from Kit.

“Yeah, there’s still things about him that are just the same tho.”

“Like?” the similar question coming from Chica again.

“He’s still as much a gentleman as the first day I met him, still the same caring person.”

“Hey…are you all going to stay there daydreaming all day or come out and pratice with me.” Damien hollared over at them with a big smile on his face, watching each of them in turn. They smiled at each other before standing up and walking down the lawn to join him.
