Why I am feeling like CRAP

As many of you who have been reading me for a while know, I was in an auto accident in 2000 and because of this I have Fibromyalgia (fibro), Occipital Neuralgia, torn disk in my back, Migraines and much more…

For the last couple of weeks the headaches have gotten worse. I have had some lumps on my neck. At first I thought they were swollen lymph nodes. But the Anti-biotic has not helped reduce them. They have been fluctuating in size.

I have done some more research on the fibro and I believe what I have is trigger points. Points on the body where the phasia (connective tissues like the filmy stuff under the skin on a chicken breast), tendons, muscles and such knot up and hurt like h*ll.

See while I was pregnant most of my fibro symptoms lessened. I still had back ache and head ache but those were more from the torn disk and occipital neuralgia.

I asked my neurologist why my fibro lessened during the pregnancy and why I am suffering so much now. (I am in the middle of a flare – increase in fibro symptoms) He informed me that Fibro is an autoimmune disease and when you are pregnant your body suppresses the immune system. When you are no longer pregnant the immune system kicks back in and sometimes into high gear and throws the person into huge flare.

Right now my symptoms are extreme headache, muscles very tight in my neck, shoulders and back, my skin hurts to touch it, knots on my neck and collar bone area and extreme FIBRO/MOMMY Brain. Most of this stuff I can ignore – but the head ache is the killer.

Because I am breast feeding, am not allowed any type muscle relaxer but they did give me Lortab 10 for pain to take ONLY WHEN ABSOLUTLY NECESSARY. So I start with my Tylenol and if that does not work then I take half a Lortab (5mg) if that does not work then I take the other half. So far half takes the edge off for about 4 hours.

So there you have it. Why I feel like crap.

First and probably only entry for today

🙁 i’m sorry.

*great big hugs* I’ll never understand what you go through, but I do have Crohns disease, which is also an autoimmune disease. Because of this I suffer regular pain, and discomfort, so I can somewhat relate to how crappy it makes you feel. I really hope this flare-up doesn’t last long! Flare-ups suck ass! Especially if it’s been good for a while!

I’m sorry 🙁 I’m actually an injury adjuster for an auto insurance company so I know a bit about fibro and about your back issues….it’s what I see most in my job. I’m sorry you’re hurting 🙁 I always feel awful when I hear people w/fibro, there just doesn’t seem to be a lot that can be done about that…

Oh boy do I know what your going through. I have FM as well and it flared up when my boys were about 4 months after I gave birth to my boys. My doctor told me about this wonderful stuff called Myopax its a oil you can either put in water or massage into the skin. It would really help with those lumps you have. I can give you more info if your intrested

My friend K has Fibromyalgia as well. She is on full disability because of the disease, and takes migraine medication regularly. She’s pretty amazing even through it all, is an amazing mother to four children (3 girls, one boy). Its a hard road, but I’m sure you have the perseverence and heart to walk it.
