We are still alive

Thought I would post an entry while Autumn is semi quiet.

Life around the parks residence has been hectic for me while DH was out of town and even still since he is back. LOL

Autumn is now 5 weeks old and she is such a fussy fuss. Not all the time, but a lot of the time. She is a very gassy baby. I have cut out almost all caffeine and eat a very bland type diet. She still has gas.

She had her month doctor appointment on Monday. She has gained almost a pound and a half and grew two inches. So she is now 8.9 pound and is 20 ¾” long. Doctor says she is very healthy. She lifts her head for a long time and he said she is very strong. She had her second Hepatitis vaccine shot as well. I need to take some photos. I have not taken any in a couple of weeks. How horrible is that? LOL Doctor told me to give her chamomile tea – 1/2 oz cut with 1/2 oz water – in the morning and at night and to elevate her head and feet so her tummy is not streached out. Evidently when you lay flat your tummy streaches out or something like that. seems to be helping a bit

In other news – I just read all 5 Harry Potter books. Now I cannot wait for the sixth book to come out.

Fuss is waking up… I bet she is hungry. All that girl does is eat. Well that and sleep, cry and make messy diapers…. No wait – I take that back… she is way more alert than she was. She is smiling now too. Ok she is really complaining now – gotta scoot….

Sooo wonderful to hear from you!One was like that, he cried ALL the time. I finally eliminated chicken, broccoli and…I’ll have to try and remember number three, and he got a little better. If YOU drink chamomile it is relaxing for both of you as well. And as odd as it sounds, my pediatrician recommended drinking one dark beer every day in the afternoon, and that also seemed to help..

You can also rub her tummy and lay her on something warm—like a blanket that has had a warm (low setting) heating pad on it…the warmth helps their belly. And a warm bath. I called a 24hour nurse line when Andrew had so much gas…so I know a few things that worked for us. Also, holding her against your chest with her legs kinda straddling you, that helps for some reason with Andrew.

I can’t wait either. If you find out the name of it please let me know. Me and my ten almost eleven year old son love the series. He has read them all. I am reading the third to our daughter. My kids were fussy too and gassy. I ended up eating very bland food. I would forget and eat kilbasa and that would throw them into a fit. The boys were too hungry to nurse all the time J was easier.

I hope she feels better. I love it when they smile at you. BLessings.

You can buy a slightly tilted mattress on onestepahead.com that is supposed to help with gas in babies. I think it has other benefits too.

yay!

HOpefully her little tummy will get better at diguesting and she won’t be so gassy! hang in there, mama! 🙂

5 weeks already! How did that happen? 🙂 Well, you’re getting some reading in. That’s a good sign. So there’s still a little free time in the world of newborn care?

I’m glad all is going well!! Ilove the harry potter books! I want to see the 3rd movie!!

My doctor told me that the food we eat doesn’t affect the baby really, so gassy foods shouldn’t make the baby have gas. All it does is make our milk taste a little different sometimes. But who knows? Maybe he’s wrong… wouldn’t be the first time! LOL I love the Harry Potter books too. My mom got me the 5th one for Christmas but I need to read it still!!

Take care of Gassy Fussy 🙂 I remember those days with the first grandchild..oh goodness how D could bring it up with a burp..the tea works, atleast for D it did, plus we did not lay him on his back when he first got done eating, but would turn him over about half hour later..it seemed to help. Good Luck, Take care of yourself also.. Hugs.

I’ve read alot of your diary about your daughter. It’s really nice to read. I am pregnant and we’re naming our daughter Dakotah. Thats how I found your diary. Good Luck with the baby!

Have you tried cutting dairy out of your diet? Most babies have a milk protien sensitivity. Tempest was like this, so was BonnieBlue’s daughter I think. Cutting out dairy usually makes a world of difference, but give it a few days before you see results.

I wondered what happened to you, and now I know: you were getting as hooked on Harry Potter as the rest of us! LOL! I read the first four right in a row while I was in the hospital and recuperating from surgery, then Marvin gave me the fifth book for our anniversary last year. We finally saw the movies, and we’re going to see the third movie for our anniversary this year!

I used dark Kyro syrup with my nephew (a tbs in a bottle of water) and it worked miracles.
