So ANGRY I could SPIT

I told you all how I went and saw my Neurologist this past Monday – August 29, right?

Well I did.

And I paid my co-pay with my credit card.

On Saturday I was checking my online statement and they charged me twice.

I called the credit card company and they said to contact the doctor’s office on Monday to have them refun the second charge.

I called the doctor and was sent to the billing offices voice mail – and never got a call back yesterday.

This morning I got a call at 7:40 AM – but I was in the baby’s room and did not hear the phone ring. So I listened to my message and the doctor’s office said they took the extra co pay because I did not pay a co pay back in November of 2004.

Excuse ME?

I have been back to his office 3 times since November and they did not tell me I owed that fee. I think I paid cash for that visit but that is besides the point. Even if I DO owe them the money I did NOT authorize them to charge the addional co pay to my credit card.

I called them at 8:20 and left a message and again at 9:30 and left a message and called the main office at 10:30 and left a message with the secretary. I had not heard from them by noon so I then called my insurance company to make sure what my co pay was at that time because Kal’s insurance has changed and I called my SSI attorney’s office because they have a copy of my medical records to make sure I had an appointment on that day. I then called the credit card company to let them know I dispute the charge.

The credit card company said they should not have taken the addional charge if I owed them or not because I did not authorize the charge. They are sending me the paperwork to dispute the charge.

I called the doctor’s office back at 2:30 and left ANOTHER message for the billing office and now it is 5:30 and they have yet to call me.

I told her that I am disputing the charge – they they should NOT have charged my account in the first place and they better refund me the money. They also need to send me a record of all my visits and payments from the last few years and that I think I paid that visit in cash not check or charge. If it indeed turns out I owe them the co pay I will pay it. But they did not have the right to just charge my credit card in the first place.

I have been a patient with this doctor since my accident in 2000 and this just burns my butt. I WILL tell the doctor what his billing office is up to.
