Posted in my 360 – taking the plunge

I am doing it – photography.

I have been told by a professional that I have an eye for composition and that they see talent in my work.

So I am going to try – no matter how many negative thoughts I have about myself. No matter how much I doubt that I can do it… if I don’t try – I will always wonder what if.

Of course I am starting slowly – the Photographer friend of mine said I should charge a minimum of $100 for a sitting fee to start out, not counting prints. I don’t know – Maybe for the Orlando Area that is good for starting out. I just don’t know. But I don’t want to cut myself short with expenses and time put into a shoot either. I expect to spend at least an hour or two minimum with each appointment – and then another few hours on the editing side of things… so if you look at it that way – $100 is not such a large amount for the time being put in…

have my lights, a slave flash, backdrop holder and I made my first backdrop this week – I purchased and inexpensive stool for subjects to sit on…

I have a shoot this weekend… for a good friend of mine… she is my test subject so I can learn how to use my lights! 🙂

So now I need to work out an ad, business cards, and get my contracts and forms in order.

I still need some things, more batteries, another compact flash card or two or three, more backdrops (espeically a chromakey green one so I can do digital backgrounds!) and some props like angel wings and furry fabric to photograph babies on… I think that will be so CUTE!

Hopefully I will be able to make enough to get the camera of my dreams! Right now I use a DiMage 7i but really want a Canon Rebel or a digital Nikon.

Well that is all for an entry here today.

test the waters first and if you feel like it is not enough then raise it a bit and you could ask other professional photographers what they charge and compare and find your happy medium. take care and good luck..
