“Orientation”
Well I had orientation this evening. OMG this baby is going to be EXPENSIVE! I should have known seeing the cars everyone that everyone else who was there for orientation were driving. A Jaguar, a Mercedes…..Made our 91 Buick Century look pitiful. We should have taken our 96 Saturn. LOL I would have felt better.
They took my weight – I have been loosing weight not gaining it – the Nurse Practitioner (hence forth known as NP) said that was good since I am NOT a skinny woman. And they took my blood pressure 110/60. She said that was very good. Usually my bottom number is around 82. Then she asked us all the usual questions – medical history of both our families. She gave me the due date of May 16th based on the date of my last period – I told her I thought I had a false period and she said the doctor would probably do a sonogram to be sure of my date. So as of right now I am due May 16 2004.
Then I set my Doctor visit for October 14, at 2:30. That is NEXT WEDNESDAY. I am not looking forward to the pelvic exam. Even though I have a woman doctor – I just do not like anyone but my hubby seeing “down there”. What can I say – I am a PRUDE.
Then after setting my appointment we all had to sit in the waiting room and the two NPs talked to us all at once about consent forms – had to sign forms for everything… what we can and cannot eat – WOOT they said I CAN have HOT DOGS!!!! WOOT WOOT WOOT 7-11 here I come!!!
Then they had us self pay people sign a form saying we will pay $200 at our first visit then $439 a month until March. NOW when my insurance through Charly kicks in at the end of January they will take the money we paid in and take out the costs of what office visits we have had and any sonograms tests etc. and refund us the difference. That is good. But now I have to figure out where the 439 is coming from.
Because they gave me the due date of May 16th I am calling the temp service to let them know so they can possibly give me that temp job filling in for a girl going out on maternity leave. I would work a few months with her before she went out and then work though middle of April. Whew that would be a load off my mind.
Also I am looking into being a mobile notary. I am a Notary but if I can get set up with this one company I would travel to real estate closings and notarize the paperwork. She said I could make upwards of $80 per closing. Sometimes there are 5 a day and sometimes 5 a week but they are easy and I will be making money. They were supposed to e-mail me the application packet – have not gotten it yet. I will call them again tomorrow. Maybe they got my e-mail wrong.
Will keep you all updated….. 🙂

babies are expensive. If you’re having trouble with the pelvic exam, just think about everything you’re going to learn about your baby from it! And good luck!

Saw your diary on the front page. Congrats and good luck on the new baby! I’m a little surprised that nurse didn’t discourage you from any weight loss as “ketones” passing through a developing child can cause serious health problems. I’m probably not informed enough to share info but next phone call (or visit)I sure would ask her for more information on pregnancy & weight loss.

Wow. That is a lot of money to shell out every month…but it will all work out. I will keep my fingers crossed that you get some income coming in. *hugs*

wow, hopefully everything will work out, and you’ll get that temp job to help out :o) ^ to a note up there, everything I’ve learned or been told has said that so long as you’re not ATTEMPTING to lose weight, there’s no harm in losing it. As long as you’re eating well and when you’re hungry – you can’t force yourself to gain or stuff yourself :)(C)

oops forgot what I was going to say lol oh the ketones…if you start out with extra ‘maternal stores’ then it’s probably not something they’ll worry about – ketones are produced when your body burns fat for energy, I’d think it would be more a problem for someone starting out really thin, since they would have to work to keep up their fat stores, to keep up with the extra production during

pregnancy… but then. I’m only going by what I’ve read about it lol Congrats on your pregnancy, I’ll stop rambling now :o) ~ajaye

Yeah, I don’t think I could live without hotdogs 🙂 I heard that you can eat them as long as they are cooked and not raw really. A&W has my heart…they have the BEST hot dogs 🙂

You know I’m due May 16th right? That’s so funny. I’d be interested to see the list they gave you on what we can’t eat, I’d forgotten and had a hot dog yesterday anyway, so there’s a phew for me!!! xxx

Hey my first car was a 91 Buick Century. Loved that car, and drove it till the engine almost fell out. That’s so exciting… you’re only 11 days before my rough due date!!
