I AM GOING CRAZY/Ramblings of an Over Tired Mommy
Well, not literally – but I feel like it.
Autumn will not SLEEP. She won’t quit SCREAMING. She has a clean diaper, has nursed, had a HUGE dinner at about 5pm and nursed for over an hour at bed time. She only had one nap today for about an hour. I got her to sleep just after 11 now she has been up since quarter to 12 SCREAMING.
She is not hungry – she just got done eating less than an hour ago. I am refusing to let her pacify on me. My boobs are sore. I bought her a new pacifier – will she use it. NO!
Holding her does not calm her, tummy medicine does not calm her, and Vicks baby rub does not calm her. I had to leave the room — oh wait not just the room – I had to go to the other side of the house in to the Florida Room – I have NEVER felt so frustrated.
She is almost quiet now…. Nope I was wrong – just taking a breather.
I wish she could self sooth.
These last few days have been killers. I mean she usually gets up several times a night – but I have been up so much with her the last few nights I can’t even remember getting up to take care of her – I remember almost falling asleep in the rocker and crawling back into bed only to be remember almost falling asleep in the rocker an hour or two later…
I am barely functioning. I hate days when she doesn’t even get a nap.
Nights are even worse then.
OMG is that quiet I hear? I will give it 10 more minutes then if all is still quiet I will go in and check on her – make sure she is covered up.
I hate the door to her room. It squeaks. If she is not completely asleep it will wake her up and then I will have to endure this whole thing all over again.
I don’t know how Kal does not hear her sometimes. Maybe he does. He is happy he does not have boobies. Then I would make him get up in the night sometimes.
Well she is crying again. I did not even go into her room. I have not even gotten up from this spot. The quiet did not even last more than 5 minutes.
WHY???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!???????
I realize she had been sick. Today she was so much better. She is not even stuffy tonight. No fever either.
Well I guess I will go into her room and pick her up and let her pacify on me. She has been crying for over half an hour. What else am I to do???
GOD, I pray you let tomorrow night be better….

yipes, I hope she feels better, whatever is upsetting her :/ Malakai doesn’t hear the kids either, he sleeps through the screaming even if it’s in his ear. I think it’s a pre-disposition in men…lol ~ajaye

Awww Ethan used to have those days when he’d cry his head off for no reason! I have no idea why they do it. It’s frustrating I know! Especially if you’re overtired. Men should have boobies too…it’s only fair. LOL I hope she stops crying and gives you a break..and some sleep.

I lurked through and found you, and wanted to give you a message from your Future Self. In eighteen years, when Autumn is in Med School and has remained the light of your life, you will be proud of the time you’re putting in right now and the bond you forged with her. (However, no WAY will you miss the sleep deprivation!) Congratulations, good luck…and don’t forget to take care of YOU too!

Right there with ya. I let Gavin CIO tonight, I busied myself cleaning the OTHER SIDE of the house(so I couldnt hear him) he finally fell asleep after about 20 minutes. But, hes been waking every 1 1/2 hours. ((HUGS))

She could be starting to get teeth. sometimes that can cause cold like symptoms and deffinitely crankyness. Frozen plain waffles help fix this as do the frozen teething rings(The kind with Gel in them) and maybe some Baby Ambisol? And some ear plugs, a cup of tea and some tylenol for mommy! Hope things get better soon.

ohh I’m so sorry 🙁 It’s so frustrating when they won’t stop and nothing calms them. I’m sure you’re exhausted. I hope today’s a better day for you – and my husband sleeps through Livy’s crying too, I don’t understand how he never hears her!

Well, Tommy never hears greg. He wouldn’t ’cause he’s a heavy sleeper w/ a hearing deficiency. *bangs head on wall* When Greg got like that I nursed until we both fell asleep and if he wouldn’t sleep in his bed, I’d move hubby over and put him in bed w/ us. She might just miss you. *shrugs* I wish I could lend you a hand!

sometimes you just have to leave them to cry it all out, plus if she’s overtired it makes it harder to get her to sleep. Having said that I such at letting Ben cry it out, he knows it too xxx

ek, that sucks. I hope she feels better

I know how frustrating this can be. Cedric did not sleep a night through for the first year. I would go to work on two hours of sleep. Jim would sleep right through it. I used to wish he would keep Jim up so I could pass out for a little. Five am he might finally sleep a little. Jim would be going to work. I finally gave him to my mom some nights. It was that or lose my mind. My mom

watched Cedric during the day. When I got pregnant with Jewel, I thought I would lose my mind if she was like him. She wasn’t. But I did a bad thing with Jewel. I would let her sleep with us in our bed and nurse all night if she wanted as long as I could sleep. Cedric cried one night a full hour and would go on. He was fussy when you held him but he wasnt’ screaming. Cedric is very bright.

I’m sorry things have been so hard. Maybe it’s the after effects of her illness. I don’t know… just a thought. I hope things get better, and soon.

Is she teething? Have an ear infection? Alot of times these things will keep them up all night. I remember those days all to well. And it was 16 years ago.

Do you have a swing for her? When Kirsten was little, and not feeling well, I’d put her in the swing and wind it up. She’d fall asleep so fast it wasn’t funny. She’d nap there for about an hour, enough to give me some QUIET TIME!

poor baby… and poor mama! i hope she feels better soon so you can get some rest… (huggles)

Hm. One did this at 7 months, it turned out he had an ear infection. When he was upright or nursing he was fine, try to put him down for sleep, no go. Watch to see if she pulls or grabs her ear. Psychostephy is right also, stick your finger in her mouth and feel her gums, sometimes you can feel the bumps from teeth coming in, and frozen washclothes work too if you don’t have the gel teethers.

Is she teething? Ben was doing the same thing and today a tooth popped through!
