Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Prometheus Frederic Cat (a.k.a. Fred, Fwed, P. Freddy or F-Cat) and Robert Theodore Cat (a.k.a. Bobby T. or Bob)

—The Baby Kitty Terrors —

It was one year ago today that I found these two troublemakers in my back yard. They had just been born to a mommy kitty that was just a kitten herself. She had no idea what was going on and did not nest. We found Bob by the back door and Fred in the middle of the yard. Both were still attached to the placenta and Fred (our miracle kitty) was still encased in his sack. I had to break it to get him to breath.

I am their Meowmie as mama kitty did not want to have anything to do with them. I hand raised them from that day. Here is a brief photo trip through their lives thus far….

The day they were born! So tiny-so frail-so helpless….

Still blind and deaf, but their sense of smell was remarkable. All I had to do was breathe in their box and they knew mom was there.

Here their eyes have opened and their ears have started to move to the proper place but they are still very wobbly with their walking.

Taken at the same time as those just above we see Fred and Bob playing with a small red fuzzy ball – well to them it is HUGE. 🙂

Bob loves to roll on Purpa’s head when he gets out of the shower. Come to think of it he loves everyone who has wet hair. I think he just uses us to wash his face.

And here they are today – well the other day. I have not taken their photo today – maybe I will when I give them their birthday cake…:-)

Hard to believe that in 14 days I will have to get up for midnight feedings again with my human baby. I still think God used the baby kitties to test me to see if I could be trusted to get up 5 times a night for feedings before he decided to give me a human baby. 🙂 Well He does work in mysterious ways!

YOu will probably get lucky and have a baby that sleeps all night. That is not uncommon. You may just luck out! At least four hours a sleep when a baby comes home is a whole nights sleep for some of us. The days are flying by so fast I can’t believe you are having your baby next week!

Wow! I’ve hand-raised orphaned kittens before, it’s so rewarding, but it can be tough. Good for you. 🙂 I remember having a litter of kittens that mom abandonned because I touched them too much. I didn’t realize it for years… my smell covered hers, new kittens should always be rubbed on moms scent glands after /very minimal/ holding. Sigh. 🙁
