The issues…
On weight loss…
Contrary to (somewhat) popular belief, I haven’t quit WW. I’m simply trying to put less emphasis on the scale numbers. Although I’m 60 lbs from goal, I consider myself to be in the home stretch…and while I know the overall number is important, I need to focus on the other aspects of my journey right now. I’ll post numbers when I reach milestones…deal?
On Men…
I’ve been receiving quite a bit of male attention lately. Why the sudden interest? Because I look good. LOL Actually I think I’m more comfortable with my body these days. Combine that with wearing new clothes that actually fit and it’s a dangerous combination.
On Work Drama…
My friends at work started a little birthday tradition. We decorate each others’ desks and go out for a celebration lunch or potluck. Nice, right? Well, some hateful hag went to complain to HR and tried to get the whole thing banned. Can you believe that? She said that it’s unfair and makes people feel left out. Give me a fucking break. The witch created so much chaos in our office that we had to have a department meeting about birthday celebrations! This woman is so hateful and pathetic. 35 years old, married with 2 teenage daughters…and her life is so lacking that she has to try to steal joy from others? Whatever. She got put in her place during the meeting and the birthday train rolls on…
On Vacation plans…
We have now decided to head to NYC in March instead of a cruise. My first trip to New York was in August 2001. I was down 50 lbs on WW and felt great. The loss helped me do lots of city walking without any issues. In addition to being a celebration of my health, the trip was also significant because the terrorist attacks occurred exactly a month later and life changed forever. I feel in love with the city, so it was only natural to go back. We’re booked for March 6-10, 2004. If any of my NYC-area weight loss buddies want to meet up, drop me a line!
On Marriage…
My pal Jersey is getting married tomorrow! Chesty and I are heading down to Houston for the ceremony. I can’t wait to see the happy couple. Wish them well…
On Ride for the Roses…
Ack! It’s only 3 weeks away! 25 miles on a bike…Lance better be worth it!
On Books…
I’m currently reading Carnie Wilson’s first book, Gut Feelings (Yes, I know I read her 2nd book first). I don’t know why I am drawn to this woman’s weight loss battle. While I didn’t take the WLS route, I totally relate to her being the “fat chick with the sassy shtick and in-your-face attitude”. I was the same way…totally oblivious to my food addiction and in denial about being morbidly obese. People loved to be around me because of my personality. If you can make people laugh, they tend to overlook the weight issue. Friends still tell me that they didn’t realize how big I was back then. Join the club.
Hope everyone has a great weekend…I’m off until Monday!

I truly admire you honesty and how you are moving on. Weight loss is so hard, but it can also dominate your existence. Good job for setting boundaries and talking about other things for a change. I love you and you are an inspiration. We all have a story, but it is great to hear your story in another voice. It lets you know that you are not crazy. Be blessed and CONGRATS! I truly ADMIRE YOU!

So glad you made it to the wedding! BTW, on my favorites it shows your last update as 9/25 — strange, eh?

I love Carnie and want to read her books too, my sister in law had WLS and has had so many problems. I’m really glad I didn’t go that route, although it was so tempting so many times.

Did you know Carnie is trying out to be a host of The View?

Hm, well, I could understand the birthday complaining thing if people did get overlooked. We used to do a birthday thing here too, and a couple of people aren’t very vocal about their birthdays and they didn’t get any celebration, and I got passed over twice even though people did know it was my birthday. I was definitely hurt…

…but then again, we didn’t have anything intelligent like a list of everyone’s birthday, so of course people were forgotten. If you have that, you’re set! Yay for another trip to NYC!–
