I’m going to TRI it…

I had a nice holiday with the fam…and I’m totally enjoying another day off from work. I am a bit sore from my ambitious walk yesterday. This pretty much tells me that I needed to take my workouts up a notch. It’s so easy to settle into a groove…while it still provides exercise, it doesn’t do much for improved calorie burn and progress.

Chesty and I are heading to the track for another 3 mile walk this evening…and I plan to incorporate a bit of jogging into the workout. Yes, I said JOGGING. I’d like to actually run the 5K portion of the Danskin, so I have to start somewhere. Slow and steady is my motto…so tonight I’ll be walking the straightaways and running the curves of the track.

I’m ashamed to admit that I thought more weight should drop before I began a running program. I’ve seen women at higher weights that run their asses off. I’ve never had a problem with bad feet/knees…so what’s stopping me? NOTHING. Yes, I’m still 100 lbs overweight…BUT, I am in the best shape of my life (all 24.5 years of it). As with any form of physical activity, I know I should start slowly…as Fred would say, “Please close your email client.” 🙂

I’m going to start looking around for bikes this weekend…and a functional swimsuit. Somehow I don’t think the one I picked for Mexico (w/cute sarong) will be appropriate for my “serious triathlete” training. LOL

You are going to do so great in the triathalon, I just know it! And if you want my swimsuit from last summer, it is yours (it is a 20W). (I know if you don’t grab it, KarenNYC will). It is very functional.

Sun Ski & Sports is a good place to buy a bike…that’s where I got mine….They have good sales at times…There’s one in Grapevine Mills and other places too. Good luck!!

I’ve heard the best way to start a runing program is walking for 4 mins, then running for 1, doing this for 20 mins. Then as this gets easier, just increase your running section by 30 secs at a time. Before you know it, you’ll be running for a full 20 mins! Good luck.
