some mixed news*
Aaron got a call from Jacob’s mom this morning. She failed a drug test and got herself and the kids kicked out of the homeless shelter. Aaron was on his way to his parents’ house, so when he got there he put in a call to the CPS worker he’s been keeping in contact with, and she told him to sign Jacob out of school and bring him home. Then, tomorrow, he’ll be signing him in to the school here.
I just hope we can keep it like this for the long term. The poor boy has been uprooted so much, he really has no idea what stability feels like. The only other man in his life, besides Aaron, died unexpectedly last year, Stacy has a revolving door where men are concerned, she’s on drugs, can’t keep a job, and just plain doesn’t care what all this is doing to her children.
Aaron still has to go through the court system to officially get custody, and I’m sure there’s more involved with the CPS worker that he’ll need to take care of. Doesn’t seem fair that he (the responsible parent) has to jump through hoops to get custody and all the drug addicted neglectful parent has to do is show up to court and put on a pretty smile.
The family court system in this country is seriously jacked up.

I just heard back from Aaron. Amazingly, Stacy signed over custody of Jacob to Aaron at least until December. I can barely believe it!
Saw you on the front page and after I looked at your front page I saw we share a lot of the same views on things so I’m adding you to my friends list. I hope that doesn’t sound creepy. LOL. Sorry you and your husband have to go through all that. The justice system as a whole is messed up. It’s especially wrong when it affects a child, though. Sending peaceful energy your way.

Poor Jacob 🙁 I hope things work out from here on. xx

Glad that she signed over custody temporarily. Here in MD, children are treated like property. I’ve been told over and over that because I left and took Xander, I could lose custody and be arrested for kidnapping even though I clearly acted in his best interests. Can definitely sympathize with how infuriating family law is *hugs*
