post-Turkey Day catch up
I’ve sat down at this computer at least four times over the past week to write an entry, but something (or someone) always seems to interrupt me. Last week was a busy week, with the only quiet spot on Thanksgiving. Aaron and I both worked our butts off, but we survived Black Friday and instead of getting snippy with each other as we often do when we’re busy and stressed out, things between us have been even better than usual lately. That’s nice, because work has been stressfull enough for me lately.
I’m trying very hard to keep my standard of work yhe same, while at the same time being mindful of the fact that I am pregnant, and therefore not completely able to hold myself to the same standard. Plus, this babe is finally making herself (I say her, just because it’s more personal than "it") known, and my belly has definitely popped, despite the fact I haven’t gained any weight at all. It’s difficult to bend over, to fit into some of the tight spaces in the stockroom, etc. I’m dealing, though, and determined to keep working hard as long as I can, because that promised promotion for next year is always in the back of my mind, and I really want it.
Also on the baby front, though I’ve only felt a few possible flutters her and there, it’s nice to feel the baby moving around. Strangely enough, I’m also already feeling Braxton-Hicks. It’s definitely early for me, normally I don’t start having BH contractions until sometime after 20 weeks, but I definitely noticed a couple while I was working yesterday. Makes the whole thing even more real, as up to this point, I could pretty much forget the pregnancy in the midst of all the holiday busyness. Plus, I’m thinking I’ll be making the switch into maternity pants, especially for work, in the next week. My button up slacks have gotten way too uncomfortable.
I don’t know if I mentioned it before, but Aaron bought me a serger at the beginning of the month, and I’m IN LOVE with it. I’ve got so many sewing projects in the pipeline now, and I can’t really wait until after Christmas so I can REALLY dig in and see what that thing can do. Before Christmas, I’m making each of the kids a set of Christmas Eve pajamas, and I’m making Ben a quilt for his toddler bed as a birthday gift (I’ve already made a pillowcase). Also, my friend Megan from work sold me her dress form, and I’m excited to use it to start making more of my own clothes. Megan recently lost about 60 pounds on Weight Watchers, so the size large dress form was too big for her. Since it was originally a gift to her, she let me have it for a song. I figured Aaron would throw a fit about it, as it is pretty bulky and my craft supplies are already taking over the house, but he just said, "Okay, that’s fine," and wondered where the heck I’m going to put it. Lol., at this point, I’m wondering the same thing.
Ideally, I would LOVE to have a house with a basement and a big family/playroom. The kids’ toys could go in one corner, family area in another, school room in another, and my sewing/craft area in the fourth. It would be PERFECT. And the main part of the house, theoretically, would stay nice and clean! It will probably be a LONG time before we can afford something like that, but I like to daydream about it.
I’ve got more to talk about, but Ben’s hanging off my arm like he hasn’t scene me in a week, and I’ve got some laundry and cleaning to get started. Best get to it!
