nojomo: peace and quiet
It was a long evening at work. Half the shift called in or didn’t show up, so that just left me, the custom framing guy, and the manager to work the store for the evening. My back is killing me, for good reason.
I stopped at Mom’s on the way home to pick up the kids (Aaron’s at a battle this weekend), to find my son walking between my brother and his girlfriend. Like, eight or nine steps in a row! And then he walked five or six steps to me, which obviously made me just melt into a puddle. He’s progressing so quickly that I really expect him to be fully walking and on his feet the majority of the time in a week or so. He’s doing exactly like Chloe did – a few cautious steps here and there, and full steam ahead.
I’ve got the day off tomorrow, and since Aaron is gone, I’m going to spend some time with the kids, clean a bit, and just basically enjoy my day. I love Aaron, and I’m so thankful that we’ve been able to reconcile and work things out, but I had really gotten used to all of my alone time this summer. I think it will do us both good to be out of one another’s hair for the weekend.
This morning, Chloe saw me making some jewelry and wanted to help, so I picked her up a HUGE pack of pony beads (seriously, like 4,000 beads) and I’m going to help her make some stretchy bracelets and necklaces tomorrow while Ben is napping. I think she’s going to enjoy it, and it’ll be nice to spend some one on one quality time with her, because she and I don’t get enough of that these days.
I’ve been knitting a lot lately. I don’t really have a lot of time to sit down and knit, but I have a couple of projects sitting around the house that I pick up whenever I have a few minutes, and I have a dishrag-in-progress in my locker at work that I’m almost done with. I love it because it’s so soothing and relaxing. I’m still working on Ben’s knit baby leggings and the dishrags, but once I get closer to finishing those up, I’m going to start a few new things. I’d love to knit Ben a pair of wool longies to see how they turn out and how long they take me to knit (I’m still a really slow knitter), plus there’s a whole list of things I’d like to knit for myself. I bought a book of sweater patterns today that are absolutely gorgeous, so maybe one of those will be my first big project.
I really just can’t believe how quiet the house is right now….
