The leaves have started changing around here, and I’ve learned that means one thing: potential photography clients come out of the woodwork and all want their sessions shot within the same three week period. This is super fun (eye roll) because my schedule is super-packed with work and I have to schedule my sessions around when Mom can watch the kids.
But, it’s nice to have the business, especially business that I don’t have to advertise for. And the three sessions I have booked through the end of the month should keep me pretty busy, but in a good way. One is an 18 month old, one is a two year old, and the other is a married couple who were supposed to use their session for their first anniversary but kept putting off their schedules. I’m doing their session out at Lake Vesuvius Nat’l Park, which is a new location for me and I’m excited to check it out for the first time.
I spent some time last night designing a sample 8×8 album that I can use as a portfolio and carry around with me. I get a free 8×8 album as a welcome gift from my new lab ($70 value!), so I definitely wanted to make sure I took advantage of that. I’ve already gotten free prints and free greeting cards from them, and I have to say I’m insanely happy with their quality. Their color accuracy is much better than my other lab.
Speaking of pictures and greeting cards….I need to get some portraits taken of my OWN kids so I can start getting our Christmas cards together. It’s so hard to take pictures of my own kids…they’re so used to the camera that they won’t look at it anymore. And forget posing! But I’m hoping that on a Friday coming up I can talk Mom and my grandma into helping me out with "kid distraction" and I’ll manage to get some good shots of them. First, though, I need to spray paint the unfinished rocking chair that I bought at work. I’d originally bought a Kentucky blue paint, but I think I’m going to switch that to red because it will work better for Christmas and autumn.
For now, though, it’s time to round up the kiddos. We’re heading to Mamaw’s house for a playdate!
