Days go by …
I think Keith Urban said it best when he sang … "Days go by, I can feel it flyin’ like a hand out the window as the cars go by"
That seems to be how my days are going of late. The next couple weeks
I only have four more shifts at the local convenience store before my technical layoff. My last one will end at 7 AM on April 20th, with the managerial change happening at 4 PM. It doesn’t really seem like it has been two years since the last time that the proverbial life rollercoaster has shot down a hill at breakneck speed, but somehow this one seems a little bit easier in some ways … possibly because I know I’m not falling into joblessness.
I feel kinda like Santa Claus of sorts right now, making 2 separate lists and checking them–only these aren’t "naughty and nice" … they’re "trip and move"
I’m supposed to fly out on the 22nd to go to Vancouver for a week to stay with a friend from college. From there, we’re going to venture to the island to check out a couple places where I can live when I move (if they don’t work, it’s a month or more of hotel stay). I’m having to list out ferry terminals, routes, schedules, fares, street addresses, and of course what to pack. I fly back on the 29th.
In the middle of that, there’s the move list, which I have to have sorted out and completed by the 4th of May. This again involves what to pack, only on a much larger scale, and can really only be an outline sketch until I’ve seen the places I have to see in Parksville.
Buckle up, Shadow … the next couple weeks could be a bumpy ride
SideNote–I saw the movie version of the musical RENT recently … I highly recommend it, even to those who don’t like musicals.
