School & Other Such Stuff…

Last week was the first week back to classes.
I’ve got two classes this semester: ENG 495, it’s the Capstone class of the English department. O.o & Music, Art & Theatre.

English is with a professor I’ve already had, & pretty much the hardest grader I’ve ever had. It also has a monster of a paper.
We have 3 main things due in this class…First off an Autoethnography, 8 pages long. Which I’m struggling with…I don’t do well writing a paper about me. It’s reminding me of the Cultural Anthropology paper we had to write a couple semesters back. & that was just a short thing…8 pages about me…I don’t know how I’m going to do it. O.o
2nd & 3rd are really a combo thing…One of them is the 25 page Senior Thesis, the other is the presentation of said project/paper downstate on the main campus to a 2 person panel from the English department.
I have a VERY vague/wide-open/board topic at the moment…I don’t know how or what I’m going to do to bring it into a researchable/presentable topic for a paper. He said it needed to be something that could hold our interest for 25 pages worth of writing, so I’m (attempting to) going with… Tricksters!
So, yeah…Not sure what to do to narrow that down at this point. O.o *falls over*

Oh yeah, & right before class, when about half of us were there (there are 8 of us total, so it was me & the 4 people in class I don’t know), Kurt, the professor, decided it necessairy to point out to what class was present, that I am the most creative student he’s had. O.o *falls over* 
 

Music, Art & Theatre…It was one of those classes I heard whispers & rumors about…It was a waste of time, it was hard, it was this, it was that. Two of the guys last semester made it out to be a nightmare…I know I’ve only had one class so far, but seriously…*shakes head* I’m thinking this is another case like was with the PED classes…It was them not wanting to get up and move and do what was asked of them.
In class we did Picasso in a bag, which was actually a kind of interesting art thing (which I used for my art for the day for last Thursday)…& did some ‘dancing’…We had to come up with a move for each syllable of our name ( thankful that I shortened mine to Jenn), and stood in a circle and did the movements, which kind of made a little dance. We also did a brain dance thing, where she told us ‘movements’ to do, which weren’t really dance moves, but put with music in the background, it sort of made it look like they could be.
We had to put our name on an index card, then take as many index cards as we had letters (again, thankful for shortening my name), then come up with words to describe us using the letters of our name. O.o You would not believe how HARD it was to come up with words. *falls over* I think I was the last one to finish, and there were a couple people with substantial length names.
Homework…We have to decorate the cards with our name & words, however we want…Which, really has made art for the last two nights fairly easy. *laughs* & then we are suppose to decorate the back with things we like, using magazine & such pictures…Which, yeah, not as easy, as I don’t really have much in the way of magazine stuff laying around.

Assignments for MAT…We have to write up a summary of each class, which yeah, not a lot of fun, but not rocket science either.
We have to write a letter to our ‘principal’ saying why a field trip to the Dennos Museum would be good for our class.
We have to present 5 (possibly) group lessons to the class, & one individual lesson. [We are doing a group lesson this week to see how it works. We each take a bit of the lesson to work on, then present it to the class the following week. My part is re-writing a nursery rhyme with words to fit our subject, which this time is "Me" & our group is focusing on healthy eating. I have a first try, so yeah, we’ll see how that goes.]
We also have to do 4 ‘Art Experiences’ and write up a review/critique of them. Which is going to be time comsuming, & potentially costly. O.o
IF Alba does it’s Christmas musical prior to Dec. 12th I can use it for one of them…But I’m not holding my breath that it’ll be in time. The local playhouse is doing ‘The Little Mermaid’ Jr…It’s children actors doing the show…It’s not too much, so I might go & see that one.

When I said I would be missing one class because it was on Halloween, the teacher started trying to brain storm ideas about changing the day of class for that week…& said that way we could be home with our families for the holiday. That was pretty cool.  We’ve got 7 students in class…So changing it might work…We will have to see.
She’s also very ADHD. *laughs* 
 

Critters go back to school Tuesday. Early mornings. *falls over* Have to have Harley up and ready to catch the bus by 6:15…Sonja gets to sleep in till 7.
Got them each a new outfit for first day…Sonja is actually wearing a skirt!

I’m hoping I don’t kill myself on my run today…I haven’t run in 3 days now. 
Ankle still isn’t right, but this weeks work out shouldn’t be too stressful…So hopefully.

Sonja put in some job applications…She has decided she wants to be a mermaid, and she wants a job so she can finace getting her tail.
She’s been researching like crazy…I think she wants to end up with her own mermaid show…She keeps saying that she would hire chubby mermaids if they wanted to be mermaids, she’s tired of all the skinny mermaids being all we get to see.

Seems like there should be something else, but I can’t think of it currently.
